St Patrick’s Day Shamrock Design Painted Seashells

St Patrick's Day Shamrock Design Painted SeashellsHosting a St. Patrick’s Day party? Looking to spruce up your garden area for St. Patty’s Day? These hand-painted seashells add a burst of color and are really simple to make! They can be made by any skill level. All you need are clam shells, acrylic craft paints, a black paint pen, clear acrylic spray sealer and a paint brush to make them!

Project recommendations: If you’re making them as party favors I would use smaller seashells around 2 to 3″ in width. If you’re going to place them outside in a garden area I would use 4″ to 5″ wide clam shells. Make sure they’re clean and thoroughly dry before painting on them.

Base coat the entire shell with 2 coats of seafoam green acrylic craft paint. Allow for 30 minutes of drying time between coats. For the Shamrock I found a free template online using Google Image Search. Resized it to the size I needed and printed it out. I then cut it out and used a pencil to trace around it onto my seashell. Whola, a template/stencil that was free!

Use dark green acrylic craft paint to make the Shamrock. I had to use 2 coats of paint to get the coverage that I needed. Let it dry. Use a black acrylic paint pen to outline the Shamrock. Let dry for 2 hours.

Take the painted seashells outside. Spray them with 1-2 coats of clear acrylic spray sealer in a glossy finish. Let dry for 4-6 hours or until no longer tacky. They can now be displayed and used inside or outside of the home.
