You know…I really hate to complain about people who work in grocery stores because they kept this country running (and fed) throughout the pandemic. I appreciate the hard work that they do, the long hours that they keep, and they are often way-underpaid. I go out of my way to thank them and to show appreciation every time I’m in the store.
With that said, I get really tired of a few of them that bag my groceries and don’t do it properly. What do I mean? I don’t like my cleaning products and food in the same bag. I don’t like my dairy products thrown in with canned goods. I don’t like heavy items whipped into a bag with my bakery items and bread. I mean…I thought all employees underwent some type of training on how to bag groceries properly. Right? Wrong!
One local grocery store was really hurting for employees so they upped their pay scale to a ridiculous amount and got a lot of new employees in the door. This all happened a few months ago. Since that time, the store has been a mess. Errors on our store receipts, coupons not being redeemed, club cards not being scanned, items are mixed up on the shelves, empty shelves, dirty shelves and floors and then the bagging of groceries. Sigh. What a difference a pandemic can make!
While I understand retail and grocery stores are having issues getting good help these days, it’s still their responsibility to train the employees correctly and if those employees don’t do a decent job, retrain them or fire them. This store used to be my favorite place but not anymore. It has totally went downhill quickly.
I’m tired of all of the issues. Not one shopping trip in the past month has been correct. Not one! It’s no longer pleasant to shop there, so next week I’ll be driving 8 additional miles (each way) to shop at a competitor’s store.
Today is my newest vent and if you need to vent about the crappy service you’re getting at the local grocery store…please feel free to leave a comment!
I am glad that I do not have your problems with bagging. You would think that they would train their employees better.
I have to say that I have been lucky in having my items bagged very well in the different grocery stores that I frequent. I have been impressed because sometimes it is just the checker with a long line of people but still doing a good job.
I just put my groceries on the belt like I want them bagged and I’ll put the bag on the items i want in the bag… easy and no hassles
I hate to say it but it is about 50/50 on times they are bagged not great. When it is warm I like all of my cold stuff bagged together so I can place them in coolers. I put them on the belt that way but still it is never all cool stuff together. I usually have to check each bag. They are good about eggs and bread.
I gotta agree! I don’t usually have problems but, once in a while, someone will bag my groceries all haphazardly and it drives me nuts.
I am so glad my store does not have the bagging issues. Sometimes things are messy or not stocked well but the bagging is OK. I do not have your issues. What I do not like is not having prices on things or they ring up wrong. We only shop for meats, fresh vegetables, fruit, and refrigerated items. 90% of the shelf stable items we get from curbside service. The people want more money for pay, that is fine but they are paying $15 an hour for $8 an hour service. More money should mean more responsibility and step up your game. The stores have a hard time finding people who take some pride in their work or just care.
I have only done curb side pick up for the last 2 years except for a couple of times in store. My groceries have all been well bagged and handled nicely. I agree that the employees need to be well trained for bagging groceries. My store hires some special needs people who do an excellent job,
