Homemade Blueberry, Strawberry and Raspberry Applesauce

Making homemade applesauce is a really easy process. To save time, I cook down the apples and other fruits in my slow cooker and then finish it all up on the stove-top. You can add just about any fruits that you like. Just last week I made a batch of sauce and used a combination of apples, blueberries, strawberries, and red raspberries.

You can use fresh or frozen fruits. If using frozen, I recommend thawing them first in a colander under cool running water before tossing them into the slow cooker with the apples. Everyone makes it differently, but here’s how I do it.

Blueberry, Strawberry and Raspberry Applesauce Recipe

12 apples, peeled, cored and diced
1/2 cup bluebeeries
1/2 cup sliced strawberries
1/2 cup red raspberries
1 tablespoon lemon juice
water
1-3 cups granulated sugar

Place a little bit of water in your slow cooker with the 1 tablespoon of lemon juice. Add your diced apples, blueberries, sliced strawberries, and red raspberries. Add just enough water to cover all of your fruits. Stir. Make sure all of that lemon water gets distributed as the lemon juice will keep the apples from darkening.

Cover and simmer over the low heat seating for 3-4 hours.

Use a slotted spoon to “fish” out all of the fruits and place them into a large blender container. Leave the hot water in the slow cooker, you don’t need it. Cover the blender and blend until mixture is smooth and creamy. Don’t over-blend as you don’t want to make juice!

Pour the creamy mixture into a large saucepot. Simmer over medium heat. Once the mixture starts to slightly bubble stir in the granulated sugar. The amount of sugar you’ll need depends on how sweet you like it. Stir until the sugar is evenly distributed and completely dissolved. Turn heat down to low. Simmer on low heat for 10-14 minutes. Turn off heat. Let cool.

Pour the cooled fruity flavored applesauce into a bowl and refrigerate. It will keep for up to 7 days in the refrigerator. You can freeze it in small freezer containers too.

This I will be making I am a big fan of applesauce. Only I like chunky applesauce so I would not use the blender.

That sounds easy enough. I like you can freeze the rest. That is good since I don’t can anymore. Thank you for the recipe.
