During the winter season we enjoy exploring our home state with day trips to local towns and cities. When we’re talking about a day trip…we’re talking about a commute of 3 hours or less each way. That gives you enough time to do a few things once you arrive at your desitnation.
One thing that we really enjoy doing is visiting old cemeteries and checking out old churches that are often connected to them. Many of the cemeteries have marked graves of our deceased veterans, so we like to pay our respects. Some have special memorials and statues located on the grounds that pay homeage to our fallen heroes too.
When it comes to old churches we love looking at their architecture and the beautiful stained glass windows that often adorn them. The majority of churches that we come across welcome the public and guest visitors. We’re especially fond of the old stone churches that you often find in the inner cities.
If you’re tired of being cooped up and looking for something to do…take a little road trip to a nearby town or city. You can drive around checking out these beautiful old churches and cemeteries and it won’t cost you a dime.
I also enjoy looking at old churches, old historical buildings and often the old cemeteries that are near them. I should make a road trip soon.
This is something that I enjoy doing too. There is so much history to be learned and seeing the markers and gravestones gives insight into people’s lives and communities.
I too love looking at old churches and old cemeteries. We have some really great ones on our area. I haven’t done it in a long time I really need to get back out there. The church pictures in this post is really pretty.
