For the past year we’ve shared several hand-painted soup can lid and mason jar lid craft projects on the TwoClassyChics blog. Today’s craft project features an adorable snowman painted onto a mason jar lid which can be used as Christmas Tree ornaments, package tie-ons, or just hang them up as part of your holiday home decor. You can make several of them in just a weekend.

Painted Mason Jar Lids Snowman Christmas Tree Ornaments
Metal Mason Jar Lids
Acrylic Craft Paint – White, Navy Blue, Black, and Orange
Paint Brush, Water Dish, Paper Towels
Drill with Drill Bit
Clear Acrylic Spray Sealer, Glossy Finish
Clear Fishing Line or Ribbon
Scissors
Round Wooden Toothpicks
Use a drill with a small drill bit to make your hole at the top of the lid. Base coat the front and back of the lid with 2 coats of navy blue acrylic paint. We went with a nighttime scene with snow falling from the sky. You’ll need to allow 30 minutes of drying time between coats. Let dry.
You don’t need a pattern to make a snowman. Just freehand one with your paint brush and white paint. Fill it in. We had to use 2 coats of white paint to get the coverage that we wanted. We added a snow mound at the bottom but you can completely omit that.
Dip the end of your paint brush into black paint to make the 2 coal eyes. Dip the end of a round wooden toothpick into black paint to dot on his buttons and mouth. Use a paint brush with orange paint to make the carrot shaped nose. Dip the end of your paint brush into white paint to dot on the falling snow. Let all of the paint thoroughly dry.
Take lids outside. Spray each side with 1-2 coats of clear acrylic spray sealer. Let dry. Cut an 8″ long piece of clear fishing line or satin ribbon to thread through the top. Knot the two ends together. Use scissors to trim the ends if necessary. They’re now ready to gift or to hang!

This is another great craft idea for an adult to do with kids. I am sure they would love to hang it on the tree.
This is adorable and would look pretty on the Christmas tree. It would be a fun craft for the family to make together and to give as gifts.
Your crafting ideas are so cute. The girls like making what you do and then a version of their own. Thank you for helping me make memories with them.
