The Arts Festival in Hummelstown
During the Autumn season we like to get out and visit local communities when they’re hosting various Fall Festivals. You can always find some type of street fair, hayrides, parades, etc. going on during this time of the year. The temperatures are cooler and everyone wants to be outside in the fresh air.
In late September we went to the Arts Festival in Hummelstown, Pennsylvania. It was our first time attending and wow…we were impressed! It was hosted on Main Street, the main road that runs through the center of town. There are old homes, mom & pop shops, eateries, old stone churches, etc. lining both sides of the street. Some residences too! It’s a beautiful town.
They had a nice variety of vendors there. You could shop for handmade clothing, quilts, holiday decorations, yard art, home decor, jewelry, children’s items, candles, soaps & lotions, beautiful artwork, food, gifts, and so much more! A really nice selection of vendors and goods. Plus, I found that 90% of the goods being sold were reasonably priced!
Weather was absolutely beautiful…hot and sunny. Matter of fact, it was well into the 80’s which is unusual for that time of the year. It was busy but not overly-crowded. By that I mean…steady stream of shoppers but you didn’t have to wait in long lines at all.
After you were done shopping you could visit the Food Court which had several food trucks and vendors selling a variety of hot and cold foods. We enjoyed an order of chicken fingers, french fries, and soft drinks. We got a few braided soft pretzels to-go. Those were for our grandchildren to enjoy.
I purchased quite a few things for our home and I was able to pick up three Christmas gifts while we were there. We had a really good time and if they host another Arts Festival next year, we’ll definitely go again.
