My son is 6 years old and is into bugs, dinosaurs, sharks, construction vehicles, and race cars. I guess most little boys his age enjoy those type’s of things. As a parent, I’m happy to provide him with educational toys and play sets that spark his imagination. Toys and games that he will play with for hours at a time and hold his interest for several months.

Animal Planet is one of his favorite channels on TV. He will sit and watch those shows for hours at a time. He learns all about our planet and the animals that inhabit planet earth. His favorite animals include sharks, dolphins, whales, dogs, cats, monkeys, eagles, owls, and dinosaurs. But…sharks are his ultimate favorites.
For this review we received the Animal Planet Deep Sea Shark Rescue Submarine Set to feature in our annual holiday gift guide. This set is awesome! My son loves to sit down and play with playsets like this that include multiple pieces for engaging interaction. It’s for ages 3 years and up.

As you explore the oceans with your submarine, beware of the mighty predators that inhabit it like the killer whale and great white shark! What’s really fun about this set is that the jaws of the Orca and Shark both open and close…major chomping action with the flick of the fin. Just look at them, they look hungry and mean!
There are 5 glow-in-the-dark little sea animals and the submarine has light-up action to encourage more realistic and creative play with your child. The included diver figure will fit inside the submarine by opening the blue plastic dome in the front of the sub. Very easy for a young child to put the figure in and take him out. Everything is perfectly sized for a child’s hand.
According to the company the submarine is not water-safe, so you don’t want to put that into water. However, my son does take the diver, Orca and Shark into the bathtub with him to play. I then towel them dry to keep them looking nice. I just wouldn’t put the sub in water due to it being battery operated.
Over the years I’ve purchased a lot of Animal Planet and Discovery Toys for my children. They’re always well-made and provide hours upon hours of playtime enjoyment. I think that this is a great set for my grandsons. They would have a lot of fun exploring with the submarine and different sea creatures.
This looks like a very fun set for kids. I’m just sad that the submarine can’t go in the water.
Extra special that there are 5 glow in the dark little sea animals. What a great set for kids that are interested in sea life.
