The Different Types of Drug Addiction Treatment

October 5, 2021 by Sam H.

Addiction is a disease that affects people of all ages, races, genders, and education levels. It can destroy relationships with friends and family members. Drug addiction treatment options are available to help those who have become addicted to drugs or alcohol get their lives back on track. There are many different types of drug addiction treatments involving varying levels of care. In this article, we will give you information that can help you decide which route is the best for you.
Inpatient Rehab

Inpatient or residential rehab is the most intensive form of care available. This type of drug addiction treatment is typically used by those who have gone through detoxification and withdrawal or need to recover from a severe medical problem, such as liver failure. A stay in an inpatient program can vary depending on the individual needs of each patient but it averages around 30 days.

Partial Hospitalization

One other type of inpatient treatment is a partial hospitalization program. This form of care provides more intensive therapy sessions than an outpatient facility and it offers 24-hour supervision, including assistance with medical needs if necessary. The intensity level can vary from one person to the next depending on insurance coverage or financial concerns that may be preventing them from utilizing the highest levels of care available for addiction recovery. These facilities also offer aftercare services so patients have continued support when they transition back into their normal lives following the completion of your drug addiction treatment plan.

Medically Assisted Detox

This type of drug addiction treatment is usually employed by those who need to go through withdrawal and need medical assistance managing severe side effects or comorbid medical conditions. This form of care typically lasts about a week and addicts are given medications that help them get over their physical dependence on the substance they were abusing.

Long-term inpatient rehab programs typically offer medically assisted detox in addition to group therapy sessions, individual counseling and other services such as socialization skills training, cognitive behavioral therapy, contingency management therapies, and motivation enhancement techniques.

Outpatient Rehab

Outpatient programs are ideal for people with less severe substance abuse issues and those who want to continue to live at home and work while undergoing treatment. An outpatient facility offers group therapy sessions during the weekdays along with medications if necessary. It also provides aftercare support services so patients can transition back into their normal lives without any difficulties following the completion of your drug addiction treatment plan.

Intensive Outpatient Programs

Intensive outpatient programs (IOPs) are for people who require more intensive care but have other responsibilities and want to live at home. This is similar to the outpatient program, but patients attend several hours of group therapy sessions each day. It can be more effective than an outpatient facility if you are able to focus on your recovery during this intense treatment process.

Legacy Healing Center is an example of a facility that offers both inpatient and outpatient services. The facility offers a variety of programs designed to meet the needs of each patient, including medically assisted withdrawal management. They also provide medical assistance with other conditions that often occur along with drug addiction such as mental disorders and chronic disease.

There are many different types of treatment options available for individuals struggling with an addiction problem. The best advice is to find a program that will fit your individual needs so you can get back on track after experiencing life-changing consequences due to substance abuse issues.
