Virgil’s Classic Root Beer Float Recipe

August 6th is National Root Beer Float Day and the perfect time to enjoy a refreshing summertime treat. Okay, you can enjoy them year-round too! They’re easy-to-make and delicious when they’re made with Virgil’s Handcrafted Root Beer and your favorite vanilla ice cream. I like using an all-natural vanilla bean ice cream but I’ve made them using frozen vanilla soft-serve too.

When I make root beer floats for my kids I like to serve them in glass mason jars with colorful straws and spoons. My daughter will add 2-3 cherries on the top while my son enjoys them plain. I chill my mason jars in the freezer for about an hour before preparing the floats.
