Kid’s Crafts – Personalized Painted Wall Art for Mom

August 7, 2021 by Shelly

Kid's Crafts - Personalized Painted Wall Art for MomThis kid’s craft project would make the perfect gift for Mom on Valentine’s Day, Mother’s Day, a Birthday or Christmas. It can be customized for specific holidays and special occasions. The one that I’m featuring in my post was made by my 5 1/2 year old grandson. He did a great job!

Kid’s Crafts – Personalized Painted Wall Art for Mom

White Canvas Art Board (any size over 8×10)
Acrylic Craft Paint (We used Jade Green)
Paint Brush, Water Dish, Paper Towels
Scrapbooking Paper
Scrapbooking Glue Stick
Black Permanent Marker
Photograph of the Child
Scissors
Decoupage Glossy Glue and Sealer
Foam Brush

We had my grandson pose for the photograph like he was blowing kisses to his mom. Snapped the photo and then printed it out. Use a black marker to outline the child and given him/her a little boarder to help the image pop. Use scissors to cut around the image.

Let the child select the color for their background. Grandson’s favorite color is green, so he selected a jade green color. Give them paint and paint brush. Cover the entire canvas art board with paint, including the sides. Set it aside to dry for 1 hour.

To add the hearts we used scrapbooking paper with a printed heart design. Cut out a few hearts in various sizes from different printed paper. We used 5 hearts because he was 5 years old.

Once the paint is dry you will use the scrapbooking glue stick to attach the photo and paper hearts onto the canvas art board as shown in the photograph. Use a black permanent marker to add your desired wording. We used “I’m sending you love Here…Catch!” onto the one that we made. Let everything dry for 30 minutes.

Dip a foam brush into the Decoupage Glossy Finish Glue and Sealer. Cover the entire board with it. We were generous with the amount that we used. Once dry this sealer will protect the artboard. You won’t have to worry about the paint color fading, chipping, or cracking. Let dry overnight.

This would make a great gift for Mom or Grandmom. Change up the wording and make one for Dad and Grandpa too! They would make a great…personalized gift!

This is such a clever idea and one that I have never seen before. I would love to make one of these for a friend from her grandson. I can’t believe your grandson is already 5 1/2 years old where does the time go?

I buy canvas from dollar tree and my great niece has painted on them. But nothing like this, what a great ideal! I think this would be perfect for her to do at my place for Christmas gifts.

I love this idea. It can be from me to the Grandkids too. They can catch a kiss from me until the next time I see them.

That makes an adorable present. Very clever use of the photo.
