Retail Clothing Stores – Clean Up Your Act!
How many of you enjoy going out and shopping for new clothes? Like a lot of women, I enjoy getting out of the house and shopping for a new outfit or two. Typically when I go out shopping I’m with my best friend, my mother or my daughter. Their my retail therapy partners.
After being on lockdown for over a year it’s nice getting out into the stores again. With precautions of course. However, a lot of the retail stores that I’ve been in lately need to clean up their act. What do I mean? Let’s discuss what irks me off.
1. Stores that are filthy dirty and look like that don’t employ a cleaning crew. The floors don’t look like they’ve been swept or mopped in months. The store has a musty odor, the shelves have 3″ of dust accumulating on them and so forth.
2. Finding clothing not hanging in the correct area for that size. If I’m looking at size Medium tops and it’s marked as a medium…I expect to find that size (majority of the time). Yes, I realize lazy shoppers don’t put things back in their proper place, but this is different. I’m talking about employees not keeping the clothing sorted into proper sizes.
3. I hate it when I find something that I like and guess what? All price tags are missing! Ugh. I don’t have time to run around finding an employee to obtain a price check.
4. Dressing Rooms and Restrooms! Why in the world are they the last places to get cleaned? Why aren’t those 2 areas in your store the cleanest? Hell, if I’m dropping my drawers or taking off my clothes to try-on something, I want it to be in a very clean environment.
5. Retail Clerks and Customer Service need to do a better job inspecting customer’s returns. I’m sick and tired of finding a piece of clothing with food stains on it, smelling like cigarette smoke, make-up all over the collar and frankly…it looks like it was worn! Please…don’t put those items back out for sale. We don’t want them!
When I was a teenager and a young adult I worked in retail stores. I know it’s a hard job and employees are often under-appreciated, but this is getting ridiculous! Management is being too laxed or training is lacking, something is going on. I’m seeing these issues more and more…and in stores that you normally don’t see these issues in!
Well, that’s my gripe for this week. Get it together…if you want my business.
