No matter the weather, there’s nothing better than starting your day with a warm beverage. Whether it’s a cosy cup of tea or energising black coffee, that first sip is always an enjoyable one!
If you’re looking to mix up your morning routine and add a new hot beverage to the mix, you’ve come to the right place. This guide will take you through three unique drinks that are all healthy and perfect for chilly mornings.
Spoiler alert – they all contain turmeric!
Why Turmeric?
Why do all of the drinks in this guide contain turmeric, you ask? Well, the answer is simple.
Turmeric is an ancient spice that is commonly known for adding flavour to curries and giving them a golden appearance. But, that’s not all. Turmeric has also been found to contribute to a normal digestive system, which is why many people choose to take turmeric tablets. This is also the reason why turmeric has become so popular as of late – it’s incorporated into everything!
Warm Drink Inspiration
Without further ado, here’s some warm drink inspiration, with your new secret ingredient.
Golden Milk
Golden milk is by far the most popular drink that contains turmeric. It’s both creamy and dairy-free, yet still stacked with nutrients.
Ingredients:
Coconut milk
Unsweetened almond milk
2 teaspoons ground turmeric
Ground ginger
Cinnamon
Coconut oil
Black pepper
Instructions:
Whisk all of the ingredients in a saucepan over medium heat.
Whisk frequently for about four minutes, until the milk is hot.
Turn off the heat and taste the milk. Add sweetener if needed.
Serve in a cup of your choice and add the cinnamon stick for decoration.
Turmeric Hot Chocolate
As the name suggests, turmeric hot chocolate is standard hot cocoa but with a twist. This is the perfect sweet treat that carries less guilt.
Ingredients:
Milk
Cocoa Powder (preferably unsweetened)
Ground turmeric
Coconut oil
Black pepper
Cayenne pepper
Honey
Instructions:
Mix all ingredients into a saucepan and bring the mixture to a boil.
Whisk the mixture occasionally, removing any lumps caused by the turmeric or cocoa. This also helps to ensure that the milk doesn’t stick to the bottom of the pan.
Once brought to a boil, turn off the heat and add some more pepper (if needed).
Pour into your favourite cup and enjoy!
Ginger Honey Bomb
This is a drink that tastes just as great as it sounds. Introducing the ginger honey bomb!
Ingredients:
Honey
Ginger (grated or grounded, whatever you prefer!)
Turmeric (once again, either grated or grounded)
Lemon zest
Black pepper
Instructions:
Stir all ingredients into a bowl, adding as much turmeric and ginger as necessary. Keep tasting the mixture until you are satisfied.
Boil a cup of water and then let cool for a few minutes.
Once the boiled water is slightly cool, stir in your mixture.
You should be left with a slightly sweet, refreshing drink! Enjoy.
While all three of these warm beverages contain turmeric, they remain completely unique and delicious in taste. The possibilities are endless when it comes to this ancient spice – enjoy!
