Weekend Ideas Abroad

June 25, 2021 by Sam H.

Bruges, BelgiumPlanning a short trip abroad can be fun and exciting if you know the right destinations well suited for a weekend getaway. There are a variety of places to visit without too much planning and stressing over preparations. We recommend the following cities that can be worth it for your three-day trip. Reach out to iasservices.org.uk immigration experts for help planning an exciting weekend abroad.

Bruges, Belgium

If you are too tired from your everyday routine and just want to spend the weekend drinking cocktails and chocolate, you might want to turn your head to Bruges. This city of Belgium is famous for chocolate and beer. The exquisite chocolate shops and bars are the places you might want to visit.

The city is known for its canals, medieval buildings, and cobbled streets that are worth visiting. The Zeebrugge port is also another significant place of the city known for its trade in Europe and serving as a perfect fishing point.

Amsterdam, The Netherlands

Amsterdam is one of the most mentioned cities in Europe in terms of beauty. Three days might not be enough to explore every beautiful place but you can cover the famous places in this short time. Take a bike ride to see some classic photos of the canal among quaint Dutch houses, then visit one of its 75 museums (the Van Gogh Museum and Anne Frank House are a must). Stroll across the tulip rows and might grab some for yourself and enjoy your strolling eating chips cone or cake along with a friend.

Venice, Italy

Venice – also called the floating city – is just the place for an amazing, serene walk in the evening. You might have a good experience by walking but to make this experience more beautiful, opt for a dream gondola ride. You will certainly be thrilled by visiting and getting lost in the alleys of the peaceful walkways. You will love to dine in one of the pasta bars and also want to see the Peggy Guggenheim collection and other art shops. We are sure you will want to see more and would extend your visit.

Lisboa Portugal

Porto, Portugal

Porto is located in Northwest Portugal. It is a coastal city well known for its wine production and grand bridges. Its medieval Ribeira district is a worth viewing site with the narrow streets and houses of the merchants. Another significant place to visit in Porto is the San Francisco Church known for its extravagant interior. The city itself is small and compact but is a perfect weekend destination to unwind while sipping sangria on the River Douro.

Great City Breaks

Getting to another country, or even crossing oceans, is easy these days. So many of the destinations are just a flight away and a great idea to plan your weekend trips.

Some of the best cities in the world are within a short drive, offering the opportunity to explore exclusive shopping streets, see famous works of art in the best galleries or discover world history in iconic museums. You can discover great stays in Paris by taking the affordable Eurostar direct from London St Pancras.

Your Perfect Urban Escape

You may relax and enjoy getting new experiences and trying new things. With the world’s largest party venues just around the corner, you can step into a new music scene, try out local clubs, sip cocktails when the weather is sunnier, or sit next to a bonfire in an old pub.

If you are a foodie, it is certainly worthwhile to try new foods and taste new flavors in every corner of the world; be it seafood from a five-star hotel or simply a cup of coffee from a local cafe, it is always lovely to try something new. You can even plan for an afternoon tea for a break. Set onto new adventures, or get to know the local cuisine in those hidden treasures where you can have a truly authentic experience.

Great tourist attractions and iconic places can also make everyone happy, including children.

Plan Your Trip

The first step is to choose a suitable destination. It is highly recommended that you do some planning. In this way, you can manage all your affairs in a short time and can make a list of the places you want to visit so it is not a hassle and you do not miss anything.

Every place has its wonders, Lisbon is rich in history, while Venice is the city of romance just like Paris. If you have kids, visit Orlando or Bruges, a laid-back destination that could be straight out of a fairytale. For children who are a little older, the views of New York or the busy streets of Barcelona might be your thing. Wherever you plan to go, do some research first and you are sure to have an unforgettable trip.
