I Love Birds but HATE Bird Poop!!!

seagull on carI’ve been a bird lover all of my life. When I was a teenager I used to volunteer my time at a bird wildlife rescue center and really enjoyed it. My first experience with a large wild bird was at 14 when I held a Barn Owl for the first time. I’ve loved owls ever since! They’re amazing hunters and predators. They help to keep the rodent population down on planet earth.

Cardinals, blue jays, the bald eagle, herons, egrets and other birds are also high on my favorite’s list. I enjoy birdwatching and get out as often as I can to do it. I’ve seen some amazing birds over the years.

With that said, it’s time for another Shelly’s PISSED OFF VENT POST on the blog.

Why is it that birds always seem to poop on things that you’ve freshly cleaned? Seriously???

Last weekend we pressure washed our siding, sidewalks, deck, front porch, shutters, etc. to get them all sparkling clean after a rough winter. Within 2 days the neighborhood birds had crapped on just about everything. I mean almost EVERYTHING!!! Not a little bit of crap, but a LOT of crap!!!!

The day after we pressure washed things my hubby washed both vehicles and shined them up. Well, you guessed it. Within 3 days both vehicles had numerous piles of bird crap all over them!!! What???? Are you kidding me? Ugh. So aggravating to do all of that hard work to only have it foiled within a few days thanks to some grumpy birds!

Don’t get me wrong, occasionally a bird will come along and do his/her business on the house or car but this was totally different. It was like they targeted everything outside that was clean. Well, now dirty. I guess we’ll have to do it all over again because I hate seeing bird crap all over the place. Sigh.

It is true, The birds seem to poop on everything, but luckily I have never looked up and gotten poop on my face! That did happen once to my mom!

  2. Seems like the crows and jays target our car windows and doors especially after they have been cleaned. It is irritating to be all ready in the car and see a big glob right in the middle of the windshield.

Hahahaha! I totally get it. We have tons of birds here but yeah they are always pooping on everthing!

  4. At my house it’s the goose poop in the driveway and sidewalks that grosses me out. Luckily it’s only during the fall and winter for some reason.

  5. Amen, you are preaching to the choir here! Literally this very morning, I was outside filling up the water for the outside pets and spraying the bird poop off of our carport area. They team up to hit my car every single time I wash it too makes me so mad because of our hard water I have to wash my car in town which is a journey. I love birds too and love to see them and listen to them sing. We have some a-hole woodpeckers here though that are doing serious damage to an out building. I wonder if they poop to mark their territory? We have two outside cats that not fans of birds so they better poop from high up in the air. Great Vent thanks for sharing.
