How to Make a Whiskey Sour

Classic Whiskey Sour RecipeMy dad doesn’t drink much alcohol but when he does, it’s almost always a Whiskey Sour. I’m not sure why he enjoys them, but he does! Last weekend when my parents were over I made him two of them! You can garnish the whiskey sour with the classic lemon wedge and cherry or mix-it-up a bit. I will sometimes make them with lime wedges which is equally as good.

Classic Whiskey Sour Recipe

1 oz. simple syrup
2 oz. fresh lemon juice
5 oz. whiskey
ice cubes
fresh lemon wedge
fresh cherry

Add the simple syrup, lemon juice, and whiskey to a cocktail shaker. Add the ice cubes. Shake for 30 to 45 seconds to combine ingredients. You want everything to be frosty cold. Pour into a glass. Garnish with lemon wedge and red cherry. Serve immediately.

Note: Dad likes them really cold, so I will pour his into a chilled glass. He’s a cherry fan too, so I always toss in 3 fresh or jarred cherries for him to enjoy.

I like to have a whiskey sour in a chilled glass. I also like to have several fresh cherries!

  2. I think the best part is having someone make the drink for you with the special touches like a chilled glass and cherries the way that you do for your dad. This does sound delicious.

  3. I think having drinks in chilled glasses makes them better. The ice doesn’t have to work as hard.

  4. I don’t think that I have ever had one of these before I would like to try it. I think I would also like mine in a chilled glass.
