I always pack a travel bag for each child that contains sticker & activity books, reading books, colored pencils, a drawing pad, puzzle books & travel-sized card games.

We’re preparing for our first vacation in over a year and heading to the beach. We’ll have a 4 hour drive down and a 4 hour drive back. Inside my son’s travel bag is a new book titled Habitats and the Animals Who Live in Them with Stickers and Activities to Make Family Learning Fun by Anita Ganeri and Penny Arlon from Weldon Owen publishing.

This over-sized book contains 112 pages with several sticker sheets in the back with a giant pull-out poster. I know my son will hang up that poster on his bedroom wall once we return from our trip. The book is jam-packed full of educational information on animals & the habitats they live in. The color photographs are amazing!

Synopsis: Swing through the rainforest with a spider monkey, swim over a coral reef with tropical fish, and ride on a camel in the desert. From rocky mountains, to open oceans and the arctic tundra, explore the habitats of our Earth’s amazing creatures call “home”.

Children will have fun completing the fun activity pages in the book. Activities include: mazes, word searches, sticker scenes, coloring, spot the differences, item searches, matching pairs, spot the odd one, and more.  These activities are perfect for families with multi-age children. My “almost” 6 year old son and 11 1/2 year old daughter can both equally use the book.

To go along with the book I picked up a package of colored pencils and markers at our local dollar discount store. I recommend you do the same if you’re going to be gifting it. Yes, books like this make a great educational & practical gift for any young child on your gift-giving list. Think about birthdays and it’s never to early to shop for holiday gifts.

    I think my daughter would like any of the Make Your own pop up books. She loves books that are interactive with flaps to open or things that stick out so this would be perfect.
