My husband is fortunate to get a lot of wood pallets where he works. He saves all of them for us to use in various projects around the house and/or yard. You can easily repurpose that wood into new things like this DIY Project that repurposes the pallet wood into a new coastal style wall shelf. He had the entire shelving unit completed in just one weekend.

He got the project idea from seeing a similar one over on Pinterest. You can check it out HERE. We wanted ours to be a specific size to fit within a specific space in our sunroom which is decorated in a coastal cottage style. All of the measurements he came up with on his own to work within that space. You can make these wall shelves any size that you need.
I threw some items on my new shelf so that you could see what it looks like. Majority of those items won’t be on it once we get it hung up. Hubby is going to give our sunroom a fresh new coat of paint next week (a coastal gray color) and then we’ll hang up the new wall shelf. I’m going to display some of my larger conch shells and whelk seashells on it along with some beach themed items.
Basically he used half of a wood pallet to make it. The back consists of 5 boards cut to various lengths. The top shelf is the width of 3 of those boards. The middle shelf is the width of 3 3/4 of the boards and the bottom shelf is the width of all 5 back boards. He put it together with carpentry nails and wood glue. Sanded it a little bit and gave it 3 coats of white paint. On the back he added 2 sawtooth hangers so it can be hung up.
I’m really pleased with how it turned out. I can’t wait for him to get it hung up so I can decorate it. Oh, so much fun when it comes to decorating and I can easily change out the decor as the seasons change.

This wall shelf really looks very nice. You are lucky that your husband is able to get so many wood pallets.
This really did turn out beautifully. Looks like it is just right for displaying your coastal treasures. I like your idea of changing it out with the seasons.
I worked in the offices of a manufacturing plant years ago. We received and shipped hundreds of pallets in a day. Broken or off size we set out for giveaway, people didn’t want them. Today it is mind blowing all of the great things that people are building with old pallets. Would love to see what else your husband has made
