We just celebrated our 35th wedding anniversary with a little weekend getaway down to Bethany Beach in Delaware. Later this summer we’ll be taking our official anniversary week-long vacation. Anyway, this was our first time to Bethany Beach and had a good time.
During our visit not a lot of “tourist” attractions were open due to it being off season. However, we did find several shops and restaurants that were open for business. The locals were telling us that during the summer season the place gets packed with vacationers from all around the world.
One thing that we really liked about Bethany were the white sandy beaches! They’re wide and kept extremely clean. It’s always nice when you can take your shoes off and go for a long beach walk without wearing your sandals or surf-shoes. Furthermore, their beaches are apparently free (even during the in-season) with no beach tags required.
Like any beach destination you’ll find restaurants that serve fish & seafood, burger joints, pizza parlors, ice cream shops, candy stores, etc. They had a nice variety of eateries to choose from. We enjoyed dinner one evening from a place called Whiskers Bar and Grill. The food was delicious and we would DEFINITELY eat there again!
If you love gorgeous sunrises I think you’ll appreciate Bethany Beach. Check out that sunrise in the first photograph. It was incredible! I’m so glad that we got up early that morning to go bike riding so that we could see it. It was well worth missing a little bit of sleep!!! We rode bikes that morning for 75 minutes with hubby doing most of the pedaling thanks to my 2 joint replacements. He’s a good sport!
We really enjoyed ourselves and looking forward to visiting again sometime during their summer “in-season” so that we can see everything that they have to offer. From the little bit of time that we were there, we were really impressed.
I have never been to Bethany . I am glad that you both enjoyed your stay.
Happy Anniversary to you both! This looks like a really nice weekend getaway. That sunrise is really beautiful and that steak looks super good. Sounds like you guys had a really nice time. Thanks for sharing your pics.
Sometimes it is nice to have a get away when it is quieter and fewer crowds to really be able to enjoy all the beautiful nature. Happy Anniversary.
Happy anniversary! Looks like a beautiful place and neat sunrise.
Happy Anniversary! We’ll be celebrating our 34th next month. I’d love to do a little getaway. I’m in NJ so Delaware is close. We’ve never been there. It looks beautiful!
