I went shopping last week with my husband to a local food outlet store. It’s called the Bakery Outlet but they sell a lot more than just baked goods. You can find cereals, snack cakes, canned goods, candy, snack foods, lunch meat, milk, bottled juices, bread, muffins, rolls, pasta, sauces, cheeses, paper goods, etc.
When shopping there you do have to be careful. I always double-check my expiration dates because sometimes they stock the shelves with products that are 6 months to a year past date. I’ll go a few months past an expiration date on some products, but I won’t go 6 months to a year! So, I always double-check before tossing things into my cart.
On this particular shopping trip I purchased two boxes of Fiber One bars. My mom loves those things and I was able to get them for $1.00 per box. I purchased three boxes of “name brand” breakfast cereals for my grandchildren at $1.50 per box, English Muffins for $1.00 per package, bag of 8 blueberry bagels for $1.00 per bag, two bags of Sweet Potato Chips for $1.00 a bag, two boxes elbow macaroni for .50 cents a box, a big pack of sweet lebanon bologna for $1.50 a pack and a few other things.
One of the best deals (at least in my opinion) was the 12-pack of toilet paper that they were running as a weekly special. It originally costs $3.89 per pack but it was the weekly special at $1.79 for each 12-roll pack with no limit on how many you could get. I stocked up and purchased four! It’s an off brand but it’s a really nice quality which surprised me once we got home! Shoot, I probably should of picked up more!
So, what kind of bargains and deals have you found lately?
You were really able to get a great deal. I have not gone to many outlet stores lately because of the pandemic, but I hope to soon start again.
We go to a number of the Amish run grocery stores. You have to watch dates there too but for some things they can not be beat. We did score those Brachs Christmas tree candies! Seriously they could be found in very few places and if they were available they were high due to lack of production. At the Amish store in late March they had them- I know when we went in there was 21 bags at $1 each and we bought them all we love them and gave some to friends!
You got a lot of great deals. I wish we had a store like that around here. I did get some almost expired Pop Tarts for $.50 a box. What can happen… they get dry and hard…. I don’t think so. They are still great with coffee. I did get a half a grocery bag of ripe bananas for $1. So much banana bread and froze some.
Banana pancakes, muffins, cupcakes, cakes, smoothies, bread, ice cream, etc. Toss some in your oatmeal, ice cream, yogurt, make milkshakes, etc. I stock up on bananas and freeze them too when at a good price.
Great score! First I have to get brave enough to go back into stores. I’m fully vaccinated but still have reservations about being around people.
I have my first shot. Getting the second one in 2 weeks. I’m nervous too but I realized now that I was getting too depressed living like a hermit and in fear. Living like that isn’t…well…living. Life has to go on. I could die in a car accident, some type of crime, catching the flu or pneumonia, throwing a blood clot, stroke, heart attack, etc.
Oh man that toilet paper was a major score!!! I can’t believe there was no limit too. I so love finding a score like that. A few days after Valentine’s Day, I was shopping at one of my go to grocery stores and I walked into a major score. They were selling medium size lotion bath sets in a basket for .25 yes twenty-five cents regular $20.00. I freaked out and got four of them and also wish now that I had grabbed more. I also got a water bottle and socks for .25 each. I am still super happy over that score.
Excellent deals Heather!
