North Spore Golden Oyster Mushroom Growing Kit

North Spore Golden Oyster Mushroom Growing KitThe first week in April is always a busy time of the year for us. It’s the week that we start getting things rolling for our gardening season. We start a lot of our seedlings for various veggies, start tilling the soil in our three garden plots, fertilizing and composting the soil, purchasing items that we need, etc. A lot of time and hard work goes into backyard gardening.

* Complimentary product received for review.

Recently I was introduced to a company called North Spore that offers all-in-one mushroom growing kits in 4 different varieties: Lion’s Mane, Blue Oysters, Golden Oysters, and Pink Oysters. These kits have everything you need to get started growing your own mushrooms and guess what? They’re grown right in the box!

We received the North Spore Golden Oysters Mushroom Kit which is easy-to-use. Once you activate your kit you’ll start seeing your mushrooms grow. A short time after that you’ll be able to harvest them, cook them and eat them! Mushrooms are an amazing “healthy” super-food.

What’s in the kit?

* The Substrate – is the stuff your kit is made from. It’s sawdust completely colonized with mushroom mycelium.

* Spray Bottle – For keeping your growing mushrooms humid and moist. Just fill up the bottle with tape water and spritz them twice a day.

* Detailed Instructions & FAQ – Everything you need to know about growing your own mushrooms from the kit is included. You don’t need a green thumb to grow mushrooms!

How to Start:

Open your box along the perforated line on the front of your kit. Slice using a sharp knife a large X into the plastic bag. Using the included spray bottle give the X you just sliced a few pumps of water. Mist it at least twice a day, every day.

When the mushrooms are grown, pick the entire cluster off by hand. Wash and cook. Yes, it’s that easy! One of the cool things about these kits is that you can grow mushrooms year-round right on your kitchen counter! We started our kit about 8 days ago and wanted you to see how you get started. In a few weeks once we start harvesting them I’ll make another post so that you can see that too! These kits are great!!!

Wow, the outdoor log kits are really neat. I have wanted to hunt for mushrooms in our woods and have found many but really need to take a class before I dare to eat any of what I find. Growing my own outside seems like a great compromise.
