Every year I look forward to putting together Easter Baskets for my kids. I never purchase pre-made or pre-filled baskets, as I like to tailor each basket to suit each child. My tween daughter likes different things than my 5 year old son. I fill up their baskets with a variety of chocolate candy, regular candies, small toys, stickers and Little Debbie snacks.

While I was at a local store a few days ago I spotted two varieties of Little Debbie items that we’ve never had before. I tossed two boxes of each one into my shopping cart. I had a feeling that the kids would love them and they make great after-school snacks or take-alongs in their school lunch bags. I gave them a few to enjoy now and the rest were set aside for their baskets on Easter Sunday.
Little Debbie Unicorn Cakes with Sparkling Strawberry Filling comes with 8 individually packaged cakes.
Serving Size is 1 cake at 190 calories per serving.
Little Debbie Easter Carrot Cake Rolls comes with 6 individually wrapped cake rolls.
Serving Size is 1 cake roll at 270 calories per serving.
Here’s what we thought about them:
My children loved both flavors but did prefer the Unicorn Cakes a little more due to all of the colorful frosting and sprinkles. I taste-tested both and as an adult I preferred the Easter Carrot Cake Rolls, although I would eat both anytime, anywhere.
They both tasted freshly made and were soft. I like to toss these types of snacks in my kid’s lunchbox or backpack. I’ve also kept these types of snacks in my desk drawer at work. They’re better than the crap in the vending machine in the break room.
Like my parents we travel a lot and enjoy outdoor activities such as camping and hiking. I always pack a few boxes of Little Debbie snacks and cakes to take along with us. It’s much more affordable to take along your own snacks when traveling than to purchase them while on the road. Plus, you know the ones you have along with you are fresher and haven’t been sitting in a vending machine for months on end.
Both of these varieties were big winners in our household. I’m hoping I’ll see them again and if so, I’ll be picking up a few more boxes.

I have only tried the chocolate snacks made by Little Debbie. I like them , so I shall try these others soon.
I have always liked Little Debbie snacks especially since they taste so moist and fresh. I would love to try the carrot rolls but haven’t seen them yet.
I buy Little Debbie cakes every week. I’ve never seen the Unicorn Cakes. They sound delicious and are so pretty!
The unicorn cakes are fun. I’d eat either of these.
I had no idea that Little Debbie made carrot cake rolls those sound so good. I will have to add these to my next shopping list thanks for sharing.
I like Little Debbie products! Of two i would go for the carrot cake rolls, and I will be looking for them in the store. I am not of fan of all the stuff that they put on some of them but I am old and they are not aimed at me. But as you say they are nice to keep around the house
