Handmade Noodle Board Stove Cover

April 10, 2021 by Shelly

Handmade Noodle Board Stove CoverHave you ever heard of a noodle board? I had never heard of them until a few months ago. They’re handcrafted wooden boards with handles that fit across the top of your stove. This wooden tray (cover) gives the home cook more counter space when entertaining or preparing foods. Plus, they cover up the stove-top!

Jenelle has a really small kitchen and needed additional counter space so she asked her Dad (my hubby) to make her one. He’s pretty creative when it comes to wood crafts. He did a few online searches to educate himself on them and then got to work.

He headed over to Lowe’s to buy a pre-made wooden board and had them cut it to his specific measurements. It looks like flooring to me! While he was there he purchased a pine board, two metal cabinet handles, wood stain, food safe wood varnish and some stick-on letters to spell out her last name.

Once he was home he attached the two pine boards to make it look like a tray. He stained the entire thing with 2 coats and left it dry overnight. He then attached the two cabinet handles (one on each side). He added the stick-on letters and then varnished the entire top. (2 coats). Once dry he flipped it over and varnished the back side. Left it dry it again.

When making a homemade Noodle Board Stove Cover you need to measure your stove-top. Your Noodle Board needs to measure 2″ less than the width of your stove. Her noodle board is about 1″ thick. If you’re going to be serving food on it you need to use food-safe wood stain and varnish to help protect the surface.

Hubby said it was fairly easy to make and Lowe’s had all of the supplies that he needed. He had the entire project completed from start to finish in one weekend. Jenelle loves her new Noodle Board Stove Cover and I have to admit…it’s pretty cool.

I have never heard of this board before your post. Your husband did a great job when he made it. It looks beautiful and is functional too.

I have never heard of these before and I think it is such a clever idea. I would really like one of these for the RV as there is little counter space in there. I think your husband did am amazing job on this board it is just beautiful.

Hubby said if you have any questions or need any help making one…to just ask. He said Lowe’s had everything he used, so he assumes Home Depot would have the supplies too. Total cost to make it was under $40 in supplies (he used 2 coupons too).

Oh my gosh. This is so clever and classy looking. I have been looking for a cover for my stovetop but have not found anything I like. Now I have to find a person handy enough to make this for me. The instructions are very clear so that helps.
