Reasons Why You Might Want to Move to Washington

March 3, 2021 by Sam H.

Reasons Why You Might Want to Move to WashingtonWashington, DC is the nation’s capital, and the decision to move there is something many Americans contemplate. The historical monuments, green space, museums, art, and theatres are to die for. Being a city of rich culture and history, Washington DC is an awesomely exciting place to be. It is also a perfect destination for a weekend vacation, especially if you love outdoor activities such as kayaking and mountain climbing due to its simple weather patterns. As if enough hasn’t been said, here are some major reasons you might want to move to Washington, District of Columbia.

1. Amazing Neighborhoods

Contrary to what most people think, securing a residence in the nation’s capital is not so hard. Could that be the reason some Trump supporters stormed the capitol building on January 6th, 2021? – not at all. Rather, this should depict how democracy in a free country operates. As far as amazing neighborhoods are concerned, all arrows point to Cleveland Park. Once you see more of it, you will notice that it is full of charm and charisma. Apart from amazing architecture, the cherished neighborhood has various apartments up for grabs from time to time.

2. Many Things to See and Do

As we have pointed out already, there are a lot of things to see and do in Washington. Whenever you have some time for yourself, there are lots of places you can hop into for some me-time. From beautiful parks to cozy environments, museums, cultural shows, and dozens of DC attractions such as those located on the national mall, there is something for everyone here. Couples love taking strolls along the various streets, thanks to the many romantic spots and things to do in the district. Moreover, safety is never an issue.

3. Booming Job Market

Its bubbling economy has plenty of job offers for its citizens. With vital public education from some of the best schools in Maryland and Virginia, the graduates are guaranteed good jobs. Some of the largest sectors in the U.S. capital include technology, tourism, media, and communications, and healthcare. This is not to forget that D.C also hosts some of the world’s biggest companies, including the World Bank. The average annual salary in the U.S capital is way higher than the national average.

4. Multiple Transport Choices

DC boasts one of the safest, cleanest, and most reliable transportation systems in the country. This means that you can choose to use the public means in the District when you do not feel like driving around without regrets. You can use the metro (metro bus or metro rail) to whatever destination and still feel safe and secure along with your pet. Interestingly, many hotels around the District also offer pet-sitting services apart from being pet-friendly.

Needless to mention, cyclists are not left out either. It is actually safe to say that D.C. is a biker’s paradise, thanks to the many pedestrian walks and lanes for those who love taking strolls or rides on two-wheeled commutes, taxis and rentals are also superfluous, with lots of parking space in town.

What reason would anyone have against the thought of moving to Washington DC? Despite your gender, belief, race, or age, it can be a place full of memorable experiences and fun as long as you are legally a U.S citizen or resident.

I lived in Washington D.C. for a very short time with my husband. However, both of our jobs necessitated that we move to a different city.
