Music: The Most Popular Tribute Acts

Music: The Most Popular Tribute ActsFor live music, there is nothing better than a tribute band to provide the music. The tunes will be familiar ones that are loved and can be danced by everyone. In personating their idols and everyone else’s, they will sing live and give as close a rendition to the real thing as is musically possible. When it comes to booking a tribute band for an event you would ordinarily speaking need to consider the ages of the guests. However, there are certain bands in the music industry that everyone loves, whether they are young or old. Once such band is ABBA. One of the reasons for this is that their music lives on through recent films and the musical Mama Mia, which was a hit in the West End. So, this article will consider just who the best acts are to have everyone on their feet, and why an ABBA tribute band for hire must be the consideration for our next party.

ABBA

Standing for Agnetha, Björn, Benny, and Anni-Frid, ABBA were, and still are, a musical act known the world over. After winning the 1974 Eurovision Song Contest with their song ‘Waterloo’, which the group sung in English, the Swedish pop went on to have a run of hits throughout the seventies and early eighties. This included the timeless classics ‘Fernando’; ‘Dancing Queen’; ‘Knowing Me, Knowing You’; ‘Money, Money, Money’; and spanned into the eighties with ‘The Winner Takes It All’. And take it all they did, as Sweden’s second largest importer after Volvo. So, when it comes to booking tribute acts there is none greater desired than four singers who look and sing as close as possible to ABBA. Something else that adds to the appeal of booking such a tribute band is that you cannot book the real thing because the band, since breaking up in the eighties, have never reformed.

Queen

If you want your party to rock, Queen’s music will be certain to do that. Although, Granny is less likely to find favour with it in the same way as she would embrace ABBA alongside her grandchildren. They do have that multi-generational appeal. Anyway, to talk about Queen, Freddie Mercury was their lead singer, and Brian May their star guitarist, so to find an act that come close may well prove difficult. The reformed Queen have certainly hit lucky with Adam Lambert as their Freddie lead. Despite not having the extra teeth that Freddie had to produce his huge vocal range, Adam manages to replicate, in his own style, a great many of the classic songs. They can promise, as the song says, ‘We Will Rock You’. The song that they are likely to get most asked for, though, is ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’, which in its day many radio stations were reluctant to play because of its length. It is a great song that is unique in that it does not have a chorus but leads on from one section to the next.

Elvis Presley

If alternatively, you want your party to rock and roll, then an Elvis impersonator might be your best bet. As the King of Rock ‘n Roll, Elvis Presley packed concert halls and grew a huge following like no other solo artist. His home, Graceland in America, that is something of shrine to his memory, is visited each year by around 500,000 visitors. It is one the five most popular American tours and the most famous home in America after only The White House. Interestingly, they are both white. There are literally thousands of Elvis impersonators the world over, so you would almost be spoiled for choice, making it a difficult decision to make as to which one. Do you go for incredibly good looking, the most amazing voice, or an endearing personality? Elvis had all three in abundance, singing hits ranging from ‘Hound Dog’ and ‘Love Me Tender’ to ‘An American Trilogy’ and ‘Suspicious Minds’.

So, three great tribute or impersonator acts to consider booking for a wedding, birthday party, or just a party. All three have the credentials as the real thing. If you want a group to impersonate them musically and aesthetically, it is a choice between ABBA and Queen. However, if you want music for all ages, then ABBA are going to be your pick of the pops.

I actually love classical music . However, if I want to have something for everyone I guess I would choose ABBA .
