Visiting The Mansion Garden at Kings Gap

The Mansion Garden at Kings GapThe Mansion Garden at Kings Gap is located in Carlisle, Pennsylvania. It’s a botanical garden that surrounds the Cameron-Masland Mansion. They’re free to visit and are open from sunrise to sunset. We like to visit every year during the fall season when temperatures are typically nice and fall foliage is ready to begin. It’s a beautiful time of the year to get outside and into the fresh air.

When planning your visit you want to wear comfortable walking shoes and dress appropriately for current weather conditions. You can bring along your own bottled water and shelf-stable snack. You’ll be doing a decent amount of walking, so be prepared and plan ahead.

A stone wall surrounds the property and the gardens are broken down into three main areas: The herb garden, The wildlife habitat garden, and a compost demonstration garden. Throughout the year they host various educational programs and you’ll find information about that through the on-site educational center. You can check out the website and/or Facebook to get up-to-date information too.

My son Jeff and his wife Tracy took me on a little outing to The Mansion Garden at Kings Gap last fall and we had a nice time. We spent about 90 minutes walking around and checking out all of the trees, shrubs, and plants on the property. You can get some incredible scenic views of the Cumberland Valley area while you’re there too.

Thank you Shelly for letting me hijack your weekly travel feature to share one of my activities with the readers of the TwoClassyChics blog.
