Last spring before the China Virus (Covid-19) hit our shores we took a day trip down to Washington D.C. It’s about a 2 1/2 to 3 hour drive from our home. We love visiting D.C. during the spring season when the Cherry Blossoms are in full bloom. It’s a beautiful time of the year to visit.
The monument is done in a obelisk style and is located on the property of the National Mall. It’s free to visit. On the day that we were there security was tight. I recommend traveling light when walking the property and surrounding area and leaving bags locked up in your car or hotel room.
It stands 555 feet tall and honor’s George Washington and his service to our country. It’s managed by the National Park Service and is kept in beautiful condition. It used to be the tallest structure in the world until the Eiffel Tower in Paris was built.
If you ever get the chance to visit Washington D.C. we highly recommend that you check it out. It can be seen from several miles away and is one of the most famous landmarks in the city.
I have visited the Washington monument in Washington, D.C. It is very impressive and I would enjoy going to Washington D.C. and seeing it again and other monuments too.
Way back when did the school trip to DC and we got to spend a lot of time at the Washington Monument. It was a beautiful the other night when Kathy Perry was singing in front of it and all the fireworks.
We have been through DC but that was on the way to NY. I would love to visit someday!
I would love to visit Washington DC. Looks like so much to see and do. We stopped at Arlington National Cemetery on our way down to Florida. I’m glad I was able to visit there.
I have lived right outside DC. It is a great place to enjoy many days of exploring.
