Signs That Your AC Might Need Some Repairs

December 20, 2020 by Sam H.

Signs That Your AC Might Need Some RepairsAcross the world, air-conditioning units are a preventative measure to heat stroke and heat-related illness for many. With global temperatures on the rise, air-conditioning units are more needed than ever. Heatstroke, which affects millions every year, if left untreated, can be fatal. In this article, we will tell you a few signs that your air-conditioning unit might need some repairs so that you can avoid falling ill to heat-related illness because your unit is not working. We hope that by the end of this page, you will be able to identify and solve any problems related to your air-conditioning unit.

Blowing Out Hot Air

If your air-conditioning unit is blowing out hot air, this indicates a failure somewhere in the system. If this does happen, your home can become very hot, and according to the air-conditioning experts of https://airmedicsac.com/service-areas/ac-repair-brandon-fl/, there is nothing worse than being trapped in a hot house with broken air-conditioning. If your unit is blowing out hot air, you will want to call a mechanic to take a look at it. Attempting to mend your unit yourself can be a recipe for disaster, especially if you do not have the technical knowledge to repair it.

Leaking

If your air-conditioning unit begins to leak, it is a sign that your unit is breaking down. This could indicate a problem with the coolant, which can be fixed. It is important to address this problem as quickly as possible with the help of a veteran-owned AC company, or similar experts. Do not duct tape your unit and think that it will fix it. Instead, you should contact a trained air-conditioning maintenance specialist to come and have it repaired for you. Attempting to make fixes yourself can be very damaging to the quality of your air-conditioning unit, and in fact, your unit may break down permanently.

Mold, Mildew, and Damp

If your air-conditioning unit begins to smell damp or if you can see mold appearing on it, it’s time to call a maintenance specialist. With that said, you can fix this problem yourself, provided you are not squeamish when it comes to mold. Mold, mildew, and dampness are all problems that can cause serious health issues if left untreated. If you are allergic to mold, the problems can multiply, and you can wind up with many respiratory infections and conditions. You can clean mold in your air-conditioning unit with a bleach and water solution. If you feel like the cleaning may be too much to do yourself, then you can hire a professional quality air duct cleaning company to help you. It is recommended to get a professional to check your unit regularly anyway.

Not Blowing Air Out At All

Perhaps the most obvious sign that your unit is broken is that it is not blowing out any air at all. If your unit begins to do this, you may have to replace your unit, and it may be beyond repair. With that said, it’s worth having an air-conditioning technician come out and look at your unit so you can determine whether or not it really is beyond saving. A new air-conditioning unit can be very costly, so it is best to avoid having it break down altogether and repair it as soon as problems arise.

We hope that, with this page, you know how to identify several air-conditioning problems. These problems are all quite common, save the last. We hope you enjoyed the read and benefited from it. Thank you for reading.

We have problems with our A/C every summer, it seems. I think we should replace the whole system but it’s so expensive.
