SunButter Sunflower Butter, A Scrumptious Spread You’ll Love
If you love sunflower seeds, you will absolutely love SunButter Sunflower Butter—that is, if you’re not already a fan. It took this review for me to discover the yummy goodness of SunButter, and I am thrilled to have had this opportunity!

For my review, I received one jar each of SunButter Organic Sunflower Butter and Natural Sunflower Butter, and several assorted single-serving pouches of On The Go Sunflower Butter. Since I do like sunflower seeds, I expected that I would like SunButter, but it totally exceeded my expectations. I can only describe it as being intensely sunflowery, in the best creamy, delicious way. It’s great on crackers, in a sandwich with jam, or all melty on toast, but my favorite way to enjoy it is by the spoonful, straight from the jar.
Among its many positive attributes, SunButter is made in the USA and is vegan, certified kosher, Non-GMO Project Verified, and Certified Gluten Free. And if that’s not enough, “SunButter sunflower butter is free from the top 8 food allergens: peanuts, tree nuts, soy, dairy, eggs, wheat, fish, and crustacean shellfish.” As for its health benefits, they say “SunButter sunflower butter is naturally good for you. They contain one-third less saturated fat than most peanut butter. SunButter also has the same amount of protein, more vitamin E, and no trans fats when compared to leading brands of peanut and tree nut spreads. SunButter is also high in iron, phosphorus, and zinc!”
SunButter is good for the planet, too. The company goes to great lengths to ensure that it uses sustainable ingredients and that its packaging is recyclable. Here’s how they describe their sustainability efforts: “Sunflowers are super eco-friendly. They use waaay less water than almonds, which use approximately 400 gallons of irrigation per 1lb jar. Plus, our shells get recycled as bedding for–wait for it–turkeys!”
A new jar of SunButter may need to be stirred if any of the natural oil from the sunflower seeds has separated and risen to the top, especially the Organic style. Once opened, SunButter doesn’t require refrigeration, but I found that I prefer its slightly thicker texture when it’s chilled.
I’m looking forward to baking and cooking with SunButter and found some tempting recipes at the SunButter website https://sunbutter.com/recipes, many labeled Paleo, vegan, and/or gluten-free. Here are a few that caught my eye:
• SunButter Breakfast Shake
• Chocolate Pumpkin SunButter Fudge

• Asian Noodle Broccoli Salad
• Gluten-Free Thai-Style Asparagus
• SunButter Ramen with Rotisserie Chicken
You’ll probably find SunButter’s many different varieties (creamy, natural crunch, no added sugar, etc.) at your usual grocery store; check out SunButter’s storefinder and online store here https://sunbutter.com/buy/. It’s safe to say that from now on, SunButter will be a staple in my kitchen—it’s that good.
