How to Make Homemade Sweet Potato Fries
We love homemade sweet potato fries and I make them for the family several times a month. The process of making your own French Fries is easy and they taste so much better than their store-bought counterparts. Plus, you can make them thin or thick cut…just the way you like them! Season with salt or cinnamon sugar. They’re so good!

If you plan on making homemade French Fries often I recommend that you invest in a good French Fry Cutter. They’re affordable and easy-to-use. My wrists & hands can’t take a lot of pain & pressure at my old age…so I prefer using one. You’ll find many different ones out in the retail marketplace but I recommend getting one with a stainless steel blade.
How to Make Homemade Sweet Potato Fries
Wash sweet potatoes under cold running water. Use a veggie brush to remove dirt and debris. You can remove the skin with a veggie peeler or paring knife if desired. I prefer the skin to be removed but that’s entirely up to you.
If you’re using a French Fry cutter follow the manufacturer’s instructions to make your fries. If you’re doing it by hand you’ll want to use a knife and cut them into your desired length and thickness. As your cutting them place them into a bowl of cool water until your done. Then drain away the water by dumping them into a colander and shake away the excess.
Place 1 tablespoon of olive oil into a bowl. Place fries into the bowl. Use a spoon to coat them with the olive oil. Place them onto a baking sheet. You can season them with salt or with cinnamon sugar.
Preheat oven to 375 degrees F. Place baking sheet into the oven and bake for 10-15 minutes depending on the thickness of your fries. Thin cut is usually around 10 minutes while thick cut can take 15-18 minutes. You’ll have to experiment with the baking time so keep an eye on them. Remove from oven and let them cool for an additional 2 minutes on the sheet before serving.
