Beautiful Wall Mural Painted on Barn in Elizabethtown
A few months ago we took a day trip down to Elizabethtown about an hour from our home. We decided to take all back roads on the tip down and back. One of the reasons we went to E-town was to see a historic covered bridge that is located outside of town. If you’ve never visited before, it’s a medium-sized town located between Harrisburg and Lancaster, Pennsylvania.
While passing through we stumbled upon a large barn with a beautiful wall murals painted on the sides of the barn. I can’t find my photograph of the other side but wanted to make sure I showed you the most important side which recognizes historic Elizabethtown.
It’s a really cool mural depicting the good old days with a stagecoach, and old train engine, trolley, stone bridges, a woman wearing a victorian-style dress with a cow (to represent farming in the area), an Amish farmer plowing his field, etc. It takes up the entire side of the barn!
The barn sits at a busy intersection where two major routes intersect, so it was difficult to get a clean photograph of the mural. There was no place to park in front of the barn so we had to park 150 yards away in a parking lot and use the zoom feature on the camera to capture it. Of course, we had to try to avoid passing cars in the photo at the same time!
We thought it was pretty cool since we’re big fans of wall murals and street art. You never know what you’ll come across while driving on a back road or passing through a small town. I highly recommend you get out for a drive around your area and hit some of the back roads to see what you may find.
