We love to travel and do so as often that we can. We’re fortunate that we only live 4 hours from the south Jersey coast. In my honest opinion…the best beaches are found in South Jersey ~ Avalon, Stone Harbor, Wildwood and Cape May.
Several weeks ago we took a last minute trip down to Wildwood Crest for the weekend. They have the widest beaches on the entire island but I still prefer staying in North Wildwood where I’m closer to the water and it’s a calmer atmosphere. Just saying. Crest is nice but not my preferred place to stay.
One thing that they do have going for them is the Wildwood Crest Pier where you can walk out on it and get closer to the Atlantic Ocean. It reminds me of the boardwalk and there are several benches that you can sit on to enjoy the scenic views. There are a few tables on the Pier if you want to bring along a little lunch but please clean-up after you’re done. It’s also a great place to watch a sunrise over the Atlantic Ocean.
On one morning we headed to the Welcome Center to get an area map and to rent bikes. It was nice to pedal around the island for two hours…but oh my gosh…my legs hurt afterward! It was the first time I had been on a bike in decades, so I had a little bit of a learning curve to learn!
Later that day we took a car ride over to the bay side of the island and found a nice bench to sit on along the waterfront. It was pretty cool to watch some of kayaks, canoes and boats go by. People were out fishing and enjoying the water. One of these days we’re going to take a boat tour through the back bay. It’s on our bucket list.
The following day we went to a place called Harbor Light Miniature Golf and played a game of golf. It was a really nice 18-hole course and some of those holes were pretty challenging. Afterwards we grabbed some ice cream from their ice cream shop which was really good. Loved that their office and ice cream shop are shaped like a lighthouse!!!
We had a good time down in Wildwood Crest and it was nice to get away just for the weekend. I hope you enjoy a few photos from our visit.
I love all the Wildwoods! The best boardwalk and mini golf anywhere!We were going to go down last weekend but changed our minds because of iffy weather forecast. Disappointed.
