Craft Project – Owl Seashell Refrigerator Magnets

September 26, 2020 by Shelly

Owl Seashell Refrigerator MagnetThese adorable Owl Seashell Refrigerator Magnets are really easy to make…plus affordable! Just collect a bunch of smaller sized seashells from the beach or buy a mixed collection of seashells from your local craft supply store. You can whip up several of them in one day and give them out as gifts!

The photo shows slight variations in the type of seashells that were used. You’re basically looking for the “shape” and “size” that will work with your owl design. You’ll want to wash and thoroughly dry all seashells before beginning this craft project.

Owl Seashell Refrigerator Magnets

Variety of Seashells
E6000 Adhesive Glue
Black Acrylic Paint Marker
Heavy-Duty Round-Shape Magnets

We used a medium-sized scallop shell for the body on our owl. We used two smaller-sized clam shells (various type’s) for his big eyes. They need to me similar in shape and size. Use the E6000 Adhesive Glue to attach them to the body. They should be placed higher up on the body as shown in the photograph. Let the adhesive set up for 20-30 minutes. We used a triangular-shaped shells for his nose & beak. Use the E6000 Adhesive Glue to attach it between his two eyes. Let dry for a few hours to get a strong bond.

Flip the owl over to the back side. Use the E6000 Adhesive Glue to attach a round magnet on the back. The owls are semi-weighty, so I recommend using commercial grade magnets or several of your small, cheaper magnets found at a local craft store. You want to make sure your magnet is strong enough to hold the owl on the front of your refrigerator without sliding down every time you open the door.

Use a black acrylic paint pen (or black Sharpie Marker) to do on his eyes. Let dry until paint is no longer tacky. That’s it…you’re done! They’re super cute!!!
