Weekend Getaway to Historic Mystic Connecticut

Connecticut is a small state located in the northeast United States. While it may be small…there are a ton of different things to see and do. While on a road trip through Connecticut we spent a weekend in Mystic. It was the perfect place for a weekend getaway.

Mystic has a lot of small town charm. You’ll find plenty of restaurants that offer casual to fine dining. There are museums to visit, an old lighthouse to explore, fishing and boating to keep you occupied, art galleries, shopping and all kinds of different things for you and the family to enjoy.

During our little visit we took in as many activities that we could. We ran around from sun-up to sun-down. We really enjoyed visiting the Mystic River Museum, climbing the steps at the old lighthouse, we checked out the Mystic Aquarium and took a tour on an old sightseeing river boat. Oh my gosh, we had so much fun!!!

We really enjoyed our little visit and next year we plan on spending a week so that we can really explore the town and the surrounding area. These types of towns and tourist areas are the exact type that we really enjoy visiting. They have so much to offer…romantic weekend getaways to the family who is looking for an outdoor adventure. Mystic has everything!
