Last month we headed down to the Jersey Shore to enjoy some fresh air, sunshine and to just have a little bit of fun. After being cooped up for 4 months…we definitely needed it! Like most Americans we played it very safe! We wore our face masks when out around other people, frequently washed our hands and limited the public places that we went to.
Wildwood is a barrier island located right above Cape May in New Jersey. It’s made up of several municipalities with one of them being Wildwood Crest. The crest is known for having the larges and widest beaches on the entire island. We stay up in North Wildwood and decided to take a short drive down to the Crest.
We found some off-street metered parking and headed out onto the Wildwood Crest Pier. It’s quite a walk, so you want to wear comfortable walking shoes when you go. On the day that we visited it had just finished raining and the clouds were beginning to break-up and move out.
The WW Crest Pier takes you from street side clear out across the beach and near the water’s edge. It’s built just like a wooden boardwalk with benches and tables along the way. You can take a picnic lunch up there if you wanted to. No fishing, skateboarding, rollerskating, kite flying, etc. are permitted. Make sure you clean-up after yourself if you take things up there with you.
We spent 30-40 minutes up on the pier and really enjoyed ourselves. It gave us something free to do and was a nice way to occupy some of our downtime. The next time we’re down on the island we’re going to go again and hopefully the weather will cooperate so I can get some better photographs of our visit.
I have not been to Wildwood , but I really enjoy all your posts about it. I would love to go to the boardwalk there.
I live in New Jersey but haven’t been to Wildwood in about 25 years. I have fun memories of being there. We usually go to Sandy Hook. Still havent made it there this year…but hope to in August.
