Spend the Day at The National Aquarium in Baltimore

The National Aquarium in Baltimore MarylandWe enjoy visiting zoos, aquariums and wildlife parks up and down the east coast. They’re a great learning experience and you get to see animals that you normally would never see during your lifetime. Sadly, some animals are disappearing right before our very eyes. We must learn about them and encourage conservation every where we go.

The National Aquarium in Baltimore, Maryland is about a 2 1/2 hour drive from our home. We try to go down every year to see what’s new. It’s a great time for our family to get together and the kids always enjoy it. We recommend that you allow at least 2 hours in your schedule if you plan on visiting.

One of the cool things about the aquarium is that you’ll see a lot of animals who live in water and some that live on land. Some are native to North America and others can be found in other parts of the world. I’m a beach girl and love the ocean, so I always look forward to seeing the exhibits with sea creatures.

Throughout the year they hold various educational opportunities and special events. You can find a list of them by visiting their website. During the summer tourist season it can get crowded during the weekends, so we recommend visiting during the off-season or during a weekday afternoon to avoid crowds.

After visiting you can check out the Inner Harbor waterfront where you can find some great dining options,  do some boutique shopping, visit a local bookstore, check out the Ripley’s Believe It or Not Museum, go out on a dinner cruise while enjoying the sites around the harbor, rent a paddle boat or kayak or walk to nearby Camden Yards to enjoy an Orioles baseball game. There’s a lot to see and do while you’re there.

We had a great time at The National Aquarium in Baltimore and will definitely be visiting again next year. Every time we go there is always something new to see and do!
