The Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS) has introduced molecular level reasoning at earlier ages. As a mother, Stephanie enjoyed the science books for babies genre, but none of them approached the content from this angle—using children’s natural tendencies to compare things that are similar and different.
Matter and mixtures and microscopes, oh my! Let’s Learn About Chemistry by Stephanie Ryan, PhD will capture the attention of any future chemist. Chemistry is often a difficult subject area to approach for young children, but Ryan engages her readers by turning chemistry into a fun matching game. By the end of the book, children will be able to compare and contrast the basic chemical makeup of things they see and use every day.

I have a 4 year old son who loves to learn new things. Matter of fact, he enjoys doing science experiments with his 11 year old sister. I wouldn’t be surprised that some day I have a future scientist on my hands. Just last week my children did a few experiments with raw eggs, balloons, water and sunshine. They really enjoy doing these type’s of hands-on activities and seeing the results.
Let’s Learn about Chemistry is the perfect board book for any young child. The earlier we introduce your children to the sciences, the better. The book will help children to spot the differences between everyday things. For example: Solids vs. Liquids, Solubles vs. InSoluble, Microscopic vs. Macroscopic. etc. I had to admit that it was a nice littler refresher course for me too!
The book is an easy read for you to read to your child and once they get older they can read it themselves. The illustrations in the book are eye-catching and adorable. I love the faces on the children in this book which make me smile. Since its a board book it will hold up to daily wear & tear and can be passed down from one child to another. I think it would be a great book to have in a preschool classroom too.
Dr. Ryan has created FREE worksheets to go along with the book. There are worksheets for young and older children to choose from. Please visit THIS LINK to receive the free worksheets! You can pre-order the book now which will be released on June 2nd, 2020.
