A Fun Visit to the Seaport Aquarium in Wildwood

The Seaport Aquarium in Wildwood New JerseyEvery year during the month of October hubby and I take off for one last vacation down to the beach for the season. October is a beautiful month to head to coast because all of the kids are back in school and its mostly older adults who are visiting the shore. Plus, it gives us one last hurrah- hurrah before the weather turns cold.

One day while we were there we had a little bit of light rain and some wind. We decided that it was the perfect day to visit the Seaport Aquarium up on the Wildwood Boardwalk. Unlike most aquariums that we visit…this one is really small and is locally-owned. You can be in and out in less than half an hour.

They have a touch pool where you can put your hands into the water and touch nurse sharks, horseshoe crabs and starfish. Hubby really enjoyed “touching” the sea creatures in the touch pool. I preferred to just watch!

During our visit we got to see a lot of different fish on display. Its pretty interesting how many different species can live in harmony with one another while other species would fight & devour each other. They had freshwater and saltwater fish on display.

Kids who were visiting the facility that day were hanging out by the little man-made lake-pool that had turtles, catfish and large gold fish swimming around in it. Once we got closer would see a few of them tossing in some fish food to the fish swimming around in the pool. Oh…the squeals and laughter coming from the kids was almost worth the price of admission.

It was a fun little activity to do on a rainy weather day. Plus, it was affordable and we were able to get in and out in thirty minutes…which gave us a lot more time in our day to do other things. Hope you enjoy the photos!
