We live approximately 20 minutes from Hershey’s Chocolate World and enjoy taking the kids for a visit a few times every year. If you’ve never visited before it’s located in downtown Hershey, Pennsylvania and is one of many different tourist attractions in the area. You’ll also find Hersheypark, Zoo America Wildlife Park, The Hershey Story Museum, The Giant Center, etc.
Hershey’s Chocolate World is free to visit. Inside you can do some shopping for souvenirs & candy. You can get on the free Hershey Tour Ride (photos from the ride included in this post), grab a bite to eat at the Food Court or pay an admission fee to watch the 4-D Movie or participate in the Chocolate Lab. Throughout the year they offer a variety of other free and paid activities too.
My children enjoy taking the Hershey Chocolate Factory Tour Ride (free) so we headed upstairs to wait in line. The line goes fairly quickly. Each car will hold 4-5 people (depending on age & size) comfortably. Once seated you want to remain seated and keep your hands inside the car at all times. You’re welcome to bring a camera along with you!
During the tour ride you’ll learn about the history of Hershey’s Chocolate and how it’s made. They teach you the history in a fun way which makes learning fun for the kids, but yet entertaining for us adults. My kids always get a kick out of our car passing through the faux oven tunnel with gives off a slight warmth sensation. The ride lasts for approximately 8-10 minutes if that.
Once you get off the ride you’re offered the opportunity to purchase a photograph of you on the ride (expensive) so we always pass on that. As you head back down the stairs they will give each person a FREE miniature Hershey’s Candy Bar to thank you. My kids always quickly devour them.
Before leaving I like to do a little shopping to pick up a few bags of Hershey’s candy which is fresher than buying it at the grocery store. Sometimes they’ll offer some great deals on your purchases too. We then head into the Food Court and purchase Hershey’s Chocolate Milkshakes. They’re the best! Always a fun afternoon with the kids!
Is Hershey’s Chocolate World open again? I would love to be able to take my granddaughter there. There is so much to see and do.
This is one for my list if I am ever in the area. It sounds like it is fun for both kids and adults and even better since it is free although I would of course buy some chocolate bars.
Uh, I would be all over those milkshakes, lol. And I would hit that store like a hurricane. I love Hershey Bars.
That is so good the ride is free. I know they expect some to buy the picture and they are hoping all will buy something at the store. What a great marketing strategy.
