This is the story not only of a great product for dogs but of a sweet little shelter dog who needed a bit of extra help in his transition to being a happy family dog. We adopted Nick last summer, and although we love him dearly, he has been a challenge at times, and he’s still working through issues from his past life.

When he’s relaxed, Nick is a cuddle bug who enjoys a good snuggle. He’s playful and will fetch his favorite ball endlessly. He’s smart, too; he came to us already crate-trained and knowing Come and Sit, and he’s working hard to master tricks like Gimme Paw and Drop It. But he still has his struggles.
This is where The Pet Gourmet Calming Aid Essential Oil Spray for Dogs comes into the picture. This easy-to-use spray is proving to be a big help for Nick during what we call his “crazy bouts” when he gets agitated and barks continuously. With the help of the shelter’s Behavioral Specialist, we’ve developed some strategies for helping Nick with his crazy bouts and his resource guarding, and now we’ve added the Calming Aid Essential Oil Spray as an extra layer of comfort for our little guy. I often work with Nick by sitting with him, stroking him gently, and crooning to him that he’s a good calm dog, so applying the Calming Aid spray is now part of that routine. Following the instructions on the label, I spray a small amount onto my hands then rub Nick’s chest and the tips of his ears, where he can breathe in the scent of the special blend of essential oils. Alternatively, I sometimes spray Nick’s bandana. Either way, Nick does seem more relaxed after the spray is applied, and he smells nice, too. Plus, I feel good knowing that Nick is becoming more and more comfortable as part of our family.
The Pet Gourmet offers two other varieties of essential oil sprays: Odor Eliminator, which can be used on the dog and/or fabrics in the home, and Learning Aid, designed to help dogs with concentration and focus. But as you may remember from our recent review of The Pet Gourmet Freeze Dried Lamb Liver and Beef Jerky with Apples, The Pet Gourmet specializes in a wide variety of products for dogs and their owners, like canned food, treats, chews, and soy candles. Learn more at their website, and visit them on Facebook, too.
