Summer is on its way, which means thoughts are turning to seaside fun once again. The entire US coastline has an abundance of excellent beach destinations, but Florida’s been the top choice of over 126 million travelers in recent times.

Check out Florida’s finest as well as some of these other best beaches on the East Coast of America.

1. Key West, Florida

Many of Florida’s sandy stretches feature as some of the best beaches in the country, but none boast the extreme tropical charm of Key West.

Key West is the southernmost destination in the country and perfect for swimming and snorkeling in clear waters. You can also set out on a glass-bottomed kayak for an otherworldly view of life below the waves.

2. Myrtle Beach, South Carolina

Myrtle Beach’s coastline boasts over 60 miles of sandy shores so inviting that they’re all classified as one playground par excellence for sun-seekers. These beaches offer great opportunities for swimming, surfing, volleyball, frisbee, and sunbathing.

Apart from those, you’ll also find plenty more seaside attractions at this top destination. Golf is up for grabs at numerous nearby courses, there are plenty of places for eating and shopping, and the local folk are exceptionally warm and inviting.

3. Nantucket, Massachusetts

You’ll feel like you’ve stepped back in time when you visit this hamlet on the east coast of Massachusetts. Charming grey shingled houses with wild rose gardens line the shores here and you’ll find no shortage of space to relax with an ocean view.

It’s all about fishing, clam bakes and exploring the local sights by bike in this part of the world. Nantucket is the perfect escape from it all far from the merrymaking crowds.

4. Colonial Beach, Virginia

Ideally located, in between Richmond and Washington DC, Colonial Beach is the second longest beach in Virginia.

Here you’ll find water sports, calm waves perfect for novice swimmers, and a quaint downtown area for exploring by bike or trolley. The beaches are also a boating hotspot with excellent facilities for watercraft of all kinds.

Virginia Wine Country’s delights are just a stone’s throw away and there are also two state parks to explore nearby.

5. East Hampton, New York

There’s are many reasons why the rich and famous choose to hang out in the Hamptons.

The Main Beach boasts pristine white sands, a pavilion for relaxing in, snack bars selling the best lobster rolls, and plenty of spots for lounging on the sands.

If you want to get active, you can rent kayaks, paddleboards, and surfboards and try out your skills on these stunning blue waters. There’s always the chance of spotting a celebrity or two as you drive past the huge mansions in this luxurious area.

Main Beach is an exclusive destination and you’ll have to pay an entrance fee unless you have a season ticket.

A Step-By-Step Guide on How to Get Rid of Mildew Smell in Carpet

A Step-By-Step Guide on How to Get Rid of Mildew Smell in Carpet

A Step-By-Step Guide on How to Get Rid of Mildew Smell in CarpetWith the average cost of carpet replacement ranging from $880 to $2,315, it’s no wonder homeowners who notice a musty smell start to stress out!

If your home has suffered from water damage or a sub-par cleaning job and you’re left with a stinky smell, there’s a good chance you can take care of it yourself. Keep reading to learn how to get rid of mildew smell in the carpet in just a few easy steps.

How to Get Rid of Mildew Smell in Carpet? First, Dry it Out!

The first and most important step in getting rid of mildew smell is to make sure the carpet is thoroughly dried. You might consider renting out big fans, but you’re honestly better off just calling a professional water damage company. They’ll have all the right equipment to get the job done right the first time.

Once you’re confident that the carpet is completely dry, follow these five additional steps.

1. Vacuum Up Debris

Run your vacuum vigorously across all of your carpeted areas. Pay close attention to any spots where you notice a strong mildew scent. You may need to do this a couple of times, changing out the vacuum bag between sessions.

2. Apply Your Homemade Mildew Remover

Next, create a homemade mildew remover by mixing one cup of white vinegar and two cups of water. Pour the mixture into a spray bottle and lightly mist the entire carpet. Make sure not to get the carpet too wet, as this can encourage even more growth.

Let this mixture sit for three to five minutes, then use a sponge to scrub any areas that carry a strong smell.

3. Apply Baking Soda

Baking soda is an incredible odor remover and it’s perfect for getting rid of any stink that’s still lingering. Give the carpet enough time to air dry, then vacuum up all of the baking soda. At this point, the smell should be eliminated.

4. Try Some Other Options

If the steps above haven’t fixed your problem, there are a few more options you can try. A mixture of one part hydrogen peroxide and five parts water should help remove the mold spores that cause a musty odor. Just make sure to test a small area first to ensure that it won’t harm your carpet.

A commercial foaming carpet cleaner may also do the trick.

5. Know When to Call in the Pros

If everything you’ve tried hasn’t worked, you don’t have to give up and replace your carpets yet. First, call in a professional carpet cleaner to see what they can do. This will give you access to equipment, cleaners, and a great deal of experience that you just can’t get with a DIY job.
