We’re big fans of seafood and prepare it twice a week for dinner. We enjoy crabs, shrimp, lobster tails, scallops, oysters, etc. We prefer steaming our shellfish instead of breading it…to help keep the calories more reasonable. You can steam it in water, water & vinegar combination, water & vinegar & beer combination, and so forth.

When steaming our crabs and/or shrimp we like to use the Old Bay Seasoning for Seafood, Poultry, Salads and Meats. You can add more or less than what the recipe calls for depending on your own preferences. Here’s their official recipe that’s printed on the package.
Old Bay Steamed Crabs or Steamed Shrimp Recipe
1/2 cup Old Bay Seasoning
Vinegar or Beer
Water
12 Live Crabs
Note: We use this same recipe when steaming 2 dozen medium to large sized shrimp.
Pour equal amounts of vinegar or beer and water to steamer or large pot with steaming rack, so that the liquid is just below the rack. Bring to a full boil.
Layer crabs or shrimp on rack, sprinkling each layer generously with Old Bay Seasoning. Cover pot.
Steam crabs for 20-30 minutes or until crabs turn red. When steaming shrimp it only takes 3-5 minutes or until the shrimp turn pink. Remove and let cool before serving.

I like using Old Bay seasoning with seafood or fish. This is a recipe I need to try.
I use the Old Bay often for shrimp and it gives so much flavor with simple recipes. We do steaming or grilling for most of our fish recipes.
This sounds so good! Big fan of Old Bay Seasoning so many different ways to use.
This looks great. Believe it or not, I have never tried this seasoning and I know it is popular. Hubby will eat shrimp steamed but always wants his fish fried (yuck for the most part) Being Lent, I might give this a try!
This would be so good. I’d go for the shrimp rather than the crab just because I prefer shrimp, lol.
