Everyone in my family loves a delicious batch of homemade chocolate brownies. Sometimes we like a “cake-like” brownie and sometimes we like a “fudge-like” brownie, it all depends on our mood. One thing is for certain though…they have to be soft and chewy.

Cherry Almond Chocolate Brownies Recipe
1/3 cup butter, softened
3/4 cup granulated sugar
2 medium eggs
1/4 cup light corn syrup
1 teaspoon almond extract
1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
2/3 cup all-purpose flour
1/3 cup cocoa powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 cup chopped, well drained maraschino cherries
1/3 cup chopped slivered almonds
Non-stick baking spray
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
Cream butter, granulated sugar and medium eggs in a bowl. Blend in corn syrup, almond extract and vanilla extract. In a separate bowl combine the all-purpose flour, cocoa powder, salt and baking powder. Gradually add flour mixture to creamed mixture, blend well. Stir in chopped cherries and almond slivers.
Spread into a greased and floured 8″ square baking pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 20-25 minutes or until brownies are done. Remove from oven and let them sit in the pan for 3-5 minutes before slicing them into squares. Cool on a wire rack and store in an airtight container.

I would probably use sour cherries in this recipe rather than maraschino cherries. I love chocolate in recipes with almonds.
Wonderful flavors in these brownies. I’d eat that!
I like this variation with the maraschino cherries. These would make for a very delicious special treat.
Oh, these flavors would be great together in brownies. I used to make a cake that was similar, but I think brownies are better. Hmm, maybe I should try that cake again, too.
OMG I am not a baker and right this minute I would almost kill for a plate of these brownies. I love chocolate and cherries together.
This sounds so good. The flavors of cherry and almond compliment each other so well. I am making this soon. Thank you for the recipe.
