You love your home, but it feels more like a dorm room than a house as of late. You have a few design ideas in your head but you haven’t had the money to see them through. The good news is that you don’t have to spend a ton of money to make updates.
What you need is a design idea in your head and okay, maybe a little money for materials. It won’t be too painful though. We’ve got tons of beautiful decoration ideas for you to try out.
So, let’s get started with the one place that everyone is going to see first. Let’s take a look at your entryway.
1. Entryway
First impressions are important so you need to give some love to your entryway. It doesn’t have to look like a luxurious mansion foyer but a little sprucing never hurts.
Grab a tiny console table and place it by the door. For an added touch, hang a framed picture over the table and maybe lean a few paintings against the wall under it. This will put a unique spin on the classic photo wall.
2. Update Your Light Fixture
You love the look you have going on in the living room except for your light fixture. The thing is probably centuries old. Take it down and give it a fresh coat of paint.
You can match it to the rest of the living room or go wild with bright colors to make it an interesting focal piece. Update the light bulbs too while you’re at it.
3. Swap Out Your Pillows
After updating your light fixture everything looks good except, you’ve sort of had the same style going on in your living room for a while. Before you start switching out everything in the room, change your throw pillows.
Adorning your couch with new and interesting pillows is an effortless way to bring a breath of fresh air to a boring room.
4. Bring Nature Indoors
There are many reasons to bring nature indoors. Plants are good for your health, they can freshen the air, and it’s been proven that nature makes people more productive and happy.
So, if you have a few unused corners in your house, fill them with a gorgeous houseplant. They work as an interesting focal piece and having them will make you feel good. It’s a win-win.
5. Put a Stool in the Bathroom
Putting a stool next to your bath is both fashionable and functional. You’ll have an extra surface that you can put stuff on and it will give your bathroom a nice spa feeling.
Light your favorite candle and have it burning on the stool while you soak in the tub. It’s the ultimate in relaxation.
6. Painted Brick
There’s something about having a brick fireplace that makes things feel cozy. The problem is that red brick doesn’t always go with the other design choices you have in mind for the room.
Paint the brick a nice cream color or white. Both these colors go with about everything so that will give you more freedom with your decor.
7. Show Your Small Rooms Some Love
Just because your small powder room doesn’t see much foot traffic, doesn’t mean you should leave it out of your decor decisions. All the rooms in your house deserve a little TLC.
Paint the walls pretty much any color that you want and throw up a few pieces of vibrant artwork. It seems silly given how small the room is but trust us when we say that it’s necessary. If you leave it bare it will stand out and not in a good way.
8. Clean up
Cleaning up is the opposite of fun but hear us out. No matter how much decor you bring in, it won’t cover up a cluttered house. Install a few things that you can use for organization purposes.
It’s not the interesting focal pieces that we’ve mentioned thus far but it will give your things somewhere to go. Putting your coat on a rack is much more aesthetically pleasing than hanging on the back of your couch for example.
9. Rug
Colorful throw pillows aren’t the only way to bring a sense of fun into a room. You can get the same sort of effect with a bright statement rug. It works well on wooden floors or in apartment buildings where you can’t exactly rip up the drab white carpet.
The magic of having an area rug sort of disappears if you let it get dirty. You may have to enlist in Chem-Dry carpet cleaning to keep it working as the focal point of your living room.
10. Add a Reading Nook
If you have a bookshelf sort of standing to itself, why not turn it into a nice reading nook? It doesn’t have to be anything too fancy. You can place a throw pillow covered bench in front of the shelf and call it a day.
Add in a table if you prefer having a hot cup of tea or coffee beside you while you read.

I think that these are all good ideas. After I have finished my spring cleaning I might implement some of them, especially the reading nook.
I agree with all of these. They can completely change a room, but they’re not too expensive. Just throwing a few bright, colorful pillows on a sofa changes the room. Just switching out the hardware on your cabinets changes the kitchen. You don’t have to spend thousands to get change.
