If you want to keep your dog healthy and fit, then feeding him the right foods is one of the most important things you should do. Most dog owners don’t pay proper attention to the food items that their dog is consuming. For instance, if you see dogs eating poop, you should definitely find out how and why. Now without wasting a single moment, let’s get started.
Chocolate
Chocolates are one of the most harmful foods for dogs. Products like chocolate and coffee contain methylxanthines, which is very bad for not only dogs but all pets. Even a little intake of these products can cause panting, diarrhea, abnormal heart rate, and in some cases death. You should never feed any kind of chocolates. Some people feed their dogs with chocolate chips but according to researchers, dark chocolate and chocolate cookies are more dangerous than white chocolate.
Dairy Products
Dairy products contain lactase, an enzyme that helps in breaking down lactose in milk. Lactase is very harmful to dogs and if a dog consumes it, then it can cause them stomach related issues such as diarrhea.
Raw Meat And Eggs
Raw eggs are very harmful for dogs as they contain avidin, which diminishes the biotin absorption rate and can cause skin problems. Though raw eggs are good if your dog has lived in the wild, but for domestic dogs, it is extremely unhealthy. Feeding your dog with raw eggs and meat can damage their digestive tract and cause serious health issues.
Nuts
Nuts are very rich in fats and different kinds of oils. Though some top dog professionals say that you can feed your dog with a small number of pecans and walnuts but still nuts like pistachios are not really recommended. The fats in nuts can damage their pancreases and cause diarrhea and vomiting.
Salty Snacks
Snacks that contain a high amount of salt are very dangerous and can cause iron poisoning. However, if you want, then you can feed him in a small amount occasionally but make sure to keep an eye on him while eating. Salty snacks can produce excessive urination and thirst and if you see your dog drinking water continuously, then you should take him to the vet. Diarrhea, tremors, seizures, and depression are some other signs that your dog may have eaten some extra salty snacks.

This is an important post for pet owners. Dogs will sometimes beg for some of these , but you cannot give them these snacks.
I knew about chocolate but I was surprised about the raw meat. I admit, I had a dog in the 90’s and I occasionally gave him a raw steak as a treat because he seemed to love it. Thanks for the knowledge! I won’t do that with future pets.
Helpful information–but I’m surprised that raisins and grapes didn’t make the list, since even one can cause a dog to go into kidney failure. Apparently some dogs are more susceptible than others, but as far as I’m concerned, it’s not worth the risk to find out. I only learned of this a few years ago, but now I’m extremely cautious with raisins and grapes to ensure that my dogs don’t get at them.
Very good information for dog owners (and people who visit dogs). Give them treats made for dogs. And NO people food.
Thank you for this! We just got a puppy last month and this is great to know. I knew about the chocolate but was a little surprised about a few of the other items.
This is a really great post I learned a lot. I knew about the dangers of feeding chocolate to dogs but I did not know about salty foods. Our dogs beg when we get a bag of chips out and I have caved in and given them a chip or two but I will stop doing that from now on thanks for sharing. I love posts about animals. Have a great weekend.
