The Star Wars Metal Earth AT-AT Model Kit

January 18, 2020 by Shelly

I met my husband back in the mid 1980’s and ever since I’ve known him, he’s been a huge Star Wars fan. Matter of fact, when we moved in together (years ago) we had to make moving arrangements for his massive Star Wars collection!

The Star Wars Metal Earth AT-AT Model Kit

In his Star Wars collection, he has hundreds of different figures, games, toys, an R2D2 life-size hamper, models, apparel items, Christmas ornaments and all kinds of different things. I would estimate that his collection has grown to over 1,000 Star Wars items over the years.

For the past few months my husband has been collecting the Fascinations Star Wars Metal Earth 3D Model Kits and just loves them! They’re metal model kits for grown-ups! He’s been collecting and building them for 2 reasons: 1. to add to his collection of items and 2. it’s a good way to sit down & relax after a long day at work. The perfect hobby for him to do when stuck indoors during the cold winter season.

The Star Wars Metal Earth AT-AT Model Kit

The metal model kits come in flat sheets with metal pieces that you pop out. They are very small pieces, but once they’re assembled you’ll have a 3D metal model. The pieces are from museum-quality, steel sheets, so they will last for years if you properly take care of them. No glue, adhesive or solder is needed! Simply pop out the pieces and connect using tabs and holes.

It takes my husband several days and up to one full week to build one Star Wars metal model. He likes to use a pair of tweezers when working on them to help bend & twist the connection tabs, but other than that…you don’t need any tools to assemble them. Thankfully, I had an old pair of tweezers in my cosmetic case which I happily donated to him for his projects.

In the past I’ve blogged and showed you his R2D2 Model, his C-3PO Model, the Millennium Falcon model and today I’m showing you the AT-AT that he recently completed. This one really turned out nicely and ONLY took him about 7 total hours to complete. Once done they get displayed in his curio cabinet down in his man cave. Yup, his man cave is decorated in a Star Wars theme.

You can purchase the Fascinations Metal Earth Star Wars: AT-AT Model Kit over on Amazon for a really great price. Amazon is where we’ve been purchasing them from. They have all kinds of different kits for you to choose from including the ones that I’ve highlighted in my post. He plans on collecting and building them all.

Star Wars models are a lot of fun for older kids and even adults. I know that my adult son would enjoy this kit.

May Star Wars fans in my family that would be thrilled with a kit like this. It sure takes a lot of patience and diligence to complete but how neat to have the finished project to display.

It’s hard to believe there was a time before Star Wars, lol. I remember sitting in a theater when I was 12, watching the very first movie (which is bizarrely now considered part 4.) I’ve been a Star Wars fan since the get-go, and I still am.
