Buying Guide for a Commercial Hand Dryer

January 6, 2020 by Sam H.

Buying Guide for a Commercial Hand DryerWith the rate of environmental degradation taking place each dawn and the increasing climate change, it is essential that everyone, including you, do whatever they can to remain sustainable. In this case, small changes such as switching from paper towels to a quality hand dryer like Xlerator hand dryer and investing in eco-friendly home appliances would be incredibly beneficial to Mother Nature. In that light, here is a well-detailed buying guide to help you understand what you should look for while shopping for a hand dryer for your business.

1. The Type of Hand Dryer

Before you splash your money on any random hand dryer you come across while shopping, keep in mind there are various types of hand dryers as briefly outlined below.

* The Traditional Dryer
The traditional dryer, also known as the conventional hand dryer features a push-button which is pressed to start the hot-air flow, which then dries water from the hands. While functional, the traditional hand dryer has a high airspeed and uses more power than all other types in the market.

* Automatic
This, as the name suggests, has no push-button. With this one, you need to place hands in or under the dryer, and the motor automatically blows hot air for hand drying.

* High-Speed Hand Dryer
The high-speed hand dryer boasts a high-speed motor and generates an incredibly high-speed stream of hot air to dry the user’s hands. They thus use less power and are more effective. A sublime example of a high-speed dryer is the Xlerator hand dryer.

The above are the three main categories. However, note that you also have to choose between a hands-in or a hands-under dryer.

2. The Washroom Traffic

The kind of washroom traffic you receive also plays a significant role in the hand dryer you take off the shelf. If you run a small business, one or two quality high-speed hand dryers would work perfectly for you. If you serve over a hundred clients a day, then you need a more durable hand dryer than someone who runs a small convenience store. Also, as a person receiving plenty of clients, one hand dryer won’t meet the cut. You will need to invest in several so that clients don’t have to the line-up.

3. Noise

A hand dryer is designed to blow out hot air, and you should, therefore, expect some noise. In that breath, if your business is situated in a premise where noise would be an issue, then you may have to opt for a traditional dryer as it blows air at a lower speed, hence emits less noise. Alternatively, look for a dryer with adjustable speeds as this also helps lower the noise.

4. Cost

You also need to consider the cost of the dryer. Note that this varies with the type of hand dryer. For instance, a traditional model is often cheaper than the rest. But bear in mind, the cost of owning the hand dryer goes beyond the initial price. Therefore, as much as a traditional model will be cheaper, it will be costlier in the long run due to its high power consumption.

5. ADA Compliance

The Americans with Disabilities Act requires that you use a hand dryer that can easily be accessed by those with forms of disability. For instance, it should be placed in such a way that a visually impaired person can use it but not bump into it unexpectedly. To meet this requirement, it is wise to opt for a dryer that protrudes less than four inches.

With the hundreds of different hand dryers making their way to the market every day, finalizing can be a daunting task. Luckily, the high-quality dryers in the market like the Xlerator hand dryer have all the upscale features you’ve been looking for and doesn’t blow a hole in your budget.

    I have never thought about the different types of hand dryers. I can see that it is important to make the correct choice.

    This is interesting. I never even thought about the choices to be made with these. If I had a preference, it would probably be automatic, but that’s just so I don’t need to touch anything in the public restroom!
