A Fun-Filled Day at the Turkey Hill Experience

January 15, 2020 by Jenelle

Turkey Hill Experience in Columbia PennsylvaniaA few months ago we took the kids down to the Turkey Hill Experience which is a tourist attraction located in Columbia, Pennsylvania. If you’re unfamiliar with the area, Columbia is located in Lancaster County. It’s about an hour from Philadelphia, 30 minutes from downtown Lancaster, 1 hour 15 minutes from Hershey.

Turkey Hill is known for having some of the best ice cream and iced tea out in the retail marketplace. Personally speaking, it’s our preferred brand and we always have some Turkey Hill Ice Cream and Iced Tea in our house. The company has been in business for decades.

One of the things that we really liked about our visit is that its an affordable, family-friendly activity. Admission prices range from $10 to $10.50 per person and there are a lot of activities for you to enjoy. There is a make-your-own ice cream lab (additional fee) and tea experience (additional fee) that you can enjoy too.

During your visit you’ll learn all about the company’s history, information about the Turkey Hill Dairy (official dairy is located down the road), about dairy cows, farming, all about ice cream, tea, the local area, culture of the people who work for the company, and more. It’s a fun, educational experience.

We took the kids and spent 2 1/2 hours checking out all of their exhibits, hands-on activities, participated in the ice cream tasting lab, etc. The kids enjoyed sitting in a vintage dairy (milk) truck, sitting in a faux tub of ice cream, watching the mini videos, tasting their own custom ice cream, and more.

Once we were done we headed into the gift shop where the kids each picked out a souvenir. I picked up a little something-something for my mom too. I was really impressed with the variety of gifts and souvenirs that they offered and they were affordably priced.

It looks like your grandkids had a lot of fun on their adventure. If I was in the area this would certainly be on my list for a visit.

What???!! I had no idea this place existed. I love Turkey Hill ice cream, and butter pecan is one of my all-time favorite flavors. I need to visit there.

I have eaten Turkey Hill Ice Cream but I never thought about a tour of their facilities. I would love to do that. I am always interested in how things are made and their history.
