5 Signs You Need an Air Conditioner Repair Service

5 Signs You Need an Air Conditioner Repair ServiceWondering if you need to call an air conditioner repair service?

Trying to diagnose problems with your AC unit?

If you’ve been experiencing issues with your air conditioning system you may be wondering what your next step should be. Luckily, many problems can be easily diagnosed and repaired by a professional. However, you’ll need to look closely for the right signs if you’re wondering if it’s time to get a repair.

Below we’ll list the top 5 signs that you need to get your A/C unit repaired immediately.

1. Moisture and Leaks

One of the biggest signs that it’s time for an AC repair is if you’re noticing moisture and leakage around your A/C unit. While sometimes a leak isn’t very serious, other times it may be.

Leakage and moisture can indicate serious problems with your unit. Moisture may be accumulating around your unit because of a refrigerant leak and this could mean you need a serious repair.

Additionally, moisture may also lead to mold growth, so you’ll definitely want to take action if any water is piling up beneath or around your unit.

2. High Humidity

If you’re wondering if you need to get your AC repaired you’ll also want to check humidity levels. High humidity within your home and window condensation or stickiness may indicate that your A/C unit is not working properly.

In addition to cooling your home, a properly working A/C unit should also be reducing humidity levels in your house. If it’s not doing this properly, your AC unit may need repairs.

3. Strange Sounds

Weird squeaking sounds, whirring, grinding, and grating sounds are not to be ignored and if you notice them coming from your A/C then it may mean that something is seriously wrong. The sounds may be due to a damaged belt, other damaged parts, or because of a lack of lubrication.

The longer you ignore the problem the more likely it will be to cause more damage to your unit so you should be sure to get the problem fixed as soon as you can.

4. Unpleasant Odors

In addition to odd sounds, you should also take notice if there are strange smells coming from your A/C unit as well. Odors that are strong and pungent may indicate a deeper problem.

You also need to beware of musty smells as this may mean that you have mold growth in or around your unit. You’ll need to deal with the issue immediately so that your household’s health doesn’t suffer as a result. It’s important to prevent mold in an AC unit so make sure that you have a plan for keeping your unit well-maintained.

5. Warm Air

If your A/C unit has started blowing hot air instead of cold air you may also need to take action. There could be several causes for this, with two of the most common being a refrigerant leak or a broken compressor.

These issues can be repaired without too much difficulty but you’ll need to hire a professional as soon as you can in order to get the problem diagnosed and repaired.

Deciding When It’s Time to Call an Air Conditioner Repair Service

If you’ve noticed any of the issues above with your AC unit it may be time to contact an air conditioner repair service. By getting your unit repaired, you’ll be able to get your home back to a comfortable temperature once again and will ensure your unit keeps going strong for a long time to come.

These are very good tips. I would immediately call a repair service if my air conditioner showed any of these signs.

This was so helpful for me to read. I am really worried that we have mold in one of our air conditioner units and I do not know how to get it out. I was going to just purchase new one when the weather starts getting warm again. I have done some reading about it but I need to do more.
