What to Expect During Your Rhinoplasty Recovery: Timeline & Tips

October 2, 2019 by Sam H.

What to Expect During Your Rhinoplasty RecoveryWhen it comes to rhinoplasty, most people are concerned with the outcome. That’s why people aspire to succeed in getting this service from a reputable institution such as Cedar Glove. A quick google search for Rhinoplasty NJ should give you this institution as one of the best for this procedure. Besides getting a nose job at such a top institution, you need to understand the healing process, for you to take good care of yourself. To help you out with this, here is a breakdown of what to expect during your rhinoplasty recovery.

1.  7 to 14 days after surgery
At 7 days past your surgery, your surgery will not be noticeable. The only thing that will give a hint that you underwent rhinoplasty is a bruise around your eyes. By the end of the 2nd week, this too will be gone, and your nose will be fine. On top of that, by the end of the 2nd week, most of the swelling on the face should be gone. Follow the doctor’s recommendations to the letter for an even speedier recovery.

2.  30 days after the procedure
By the end of month one after the surgery, most of the physical signs of the surgery will be gone. At this point, you can go back to your normal routine, including physical exercise. This includes intense exercise since all the bones will be back firmly in place. You can even wear glasses at this point. Follow all the instructions that the doctor gives you for even faster healing.

3.  90 – 180 days after surgery
At 3 months, you will have gotten overall signs of the surgery. You will also notice that numbness that was present in the first two months after the procedure is gone. If at this point you notice any sensations or signs of numbness in your nose, let your doctor know about it. It could be a sign of complications, and the earlier you deal with them, the better for you.

4.  12 months after surgery
At this point, you should have forgotten about the surgery. The nose should bring out the shape that you wanted during the surgery. Any pain or numbness at this point should warrant you to seek medical attention. It could be a sign of complications.

Tips to faster healing
Even with these timelines in place, some tips can help you heal faster. The most important one as discussed above is following the doctor’s instructions. Another tip that can help you heal faster is to rest a lot in the first week after surgery. Don’t get out of surgery and hit the gym, but instead, enough rest and give your body time to heal. Another important tip is to avoid sleeping on your side. Doing so could see the nose shift positions and necessitate another surgery.

Lastly, be sure to stay cool. Exposing yourself to excessive heat could lead to swelling. Not only is this painful, but it can slow down the healing process. Just stay away from direct sunlight and you will be fine.

These are good tips. Some people try to exercise too soon after surgery.
