Simple Pleasures in Life – Seeing Rainbows

Rainbow Number 1As the seasons change…so does the weather. Every year when we leap from late spring into summer and then again from late summer into fall…we get hit with heavy thunderstorms. You can always tell when one season is ending and another is beginning in the northeast.

I’ve always enjoyed seeing rainbows after a storm. Some of my most memorable times have been the ones I’ve seen out over the Atlantic Ocean while down at the beach. A few times I’ve been lucky enough to even see a double rainbow in the sky.

One such memorable occasion happened back in late August while we were heading to Hershey to see the Broadway Show CATS. Hubby and I love attending the theatre and go as often as we can.

During our drive a big thunderstorm started hitting us. The sky was black, headlights were on, the rain was falling from the sky by the boat loads, thunder, lightning, wind…etc. Cars were pulling over to the side of the road because it was hard to see.

Hubby continued on as we didn’t want to be late. He drove slowly and really paid attention to what was going on. I was nervous, but not scared. After driving through the mess for 15 minutes we finally saw rainbow number one. From my photo you can see rain clouds and blue skies…all at the same time.

We finally arrived at the Hershey Theatre and just as we parked another thunderstorm started raining down on us. We sat in the car for 15 minutes waiting for it to pass. There was no way that we were getting out and going to go sit in a theater soaking wet. Yes…we patiently waited.

As soon as thunderstorm number two finished up we were greeting by the biggest rainbow that I’ve ever seen! You could seriously see from one end to the other end and Hershey sat right underneath the center of it. It was totally cool to see!!!

In one evening we had the chance to see two gorgeous rainbows about 25-30 minutes a part. Wow! Oh…those simple pleasures in life that can bring us so much joy!
